The Dorset Villages Marathon... From Matt on the great relay contest:

"Team YTRRC Brooke Family" arrived looking fresh and strong, but armed with a thousand and one excuses! Son Orlando had clearly had enough and feigned a sore throat (acting being a strong skill in the family). Nick Brooke (Club Chairman) has had his foot amputated at the knee, or bruised his toe, can't remember which. Daughter Sophie was particulalrly strong with the banter and almost accepted a finiacial bet, but not quite.Meanwhile Flora was the only one acting suitable restrained.

"Team YTRRC Challengers" arrived rather nervously, and mainly headed for the toilet en masse. With Jacqueline Burns and Jackie Casey, relative newcomers to the racing scene, this was an evenly balanced out by old-timers Pete Jakeman and Matt Driver.

Brooke led after leg one, Challengers led after leg two. Leg three was held by Challengers, and then we all waited to see who would be wearing the Green and White first at the finish line. Oh, Joy!!! Challengers won and looked smug all afternoon! Bragging rights all year!

The Individual Entries

Well done to the other YTRRC runners doing the race solo. Some fantastic efforts out thereincluding Paul Rose who won his age category yet again. He was upset that the prize was a trophy rather than food! Kat did a stonking 4hrs 30mins in her first Marathon. Jacqueline Burns had a good run as did everyone who took part, the results will be posted on the blog as soon as they are available.

The Glastonbury 10k

Well it was a great day for the Green and Whites, with several PBs, Jane Moorcroft ran her 1st race for Yeovil, welcome Jane. Bryn Phillips was the 1st Yeovil runner home in a PB of 37:34. Crispian also had a best in 41:45, a PB by over 2 minutes! Jon Crane was on the comeback trail and Andrew Brown missed the Tea and Cakes he has on the Sunday runs. All results will be posted on Blog when available!

The Hippo

Richard Dodge and Sam ran the Hippo, again details will be posted when available, it was Sams 1st race, with plenty of mud. hills and water.

Well done to everyone who raced today, I also had a nice post about the Sunday Run from Fiona Gaffney, who said 'Great Sunday Run this morning, great route, great company, great weather, Thank You'

VERY IMPORTANT - THE CLUB AGM is on Tuesday 15th May, please make every effort to be there. There will be the club 5k before hand with an alternative 5 miler if you want it. If you are a 40min 5km specialist please be there at 6:30pm prompt! In fact everyoner running, out of respect for other members should be there at 6:30 prompt. If you have anything for the AGM agenda please reply to this and I will send it on to Debbie. BY THE WEEKEND PLEASE.

There will be NO TRACK SESSION in the first wek in June, but you don't get out of it that easily, the training session will be on the grass at Mudford Rec instead!

Once again thank you for all the support for Challenge333, Richard Dodge is now taking up the baton with a 3 race challenge on the weekend 7th and 8th July when he will do 3 tough off road races in three days. I know one is the Maiden Castle Loop on Saturday evening, my only chance of getting in front of him as he will already have done a tough off roader in the afternoon!! More details to follow!

More pictures of the final wet and muddy day of 333 can be see via this link

Challenge333 the Final Day

Do you fancy a fast, flat 10k with possible PB potential and the time to train. One of the fastest 10k's in Dorset is the Christmas 10k in Christchurch at 11:00am on Sunday 9th December. There are already a few Yeovil runners, including me, taking part and if there is enough interest the club will put up a mini-bus. Why now I hear you ask? this race, with a 650 limit, is always full by the end of June, therefore if you are interested please e mail me back within a week and I will reserve the number of entries. The entry fee is £8 for club members, the mini bus can park at mine (500yds from start) and maybe we can have a few cakes and some warm mulled wine afterwards. Well, no maybe, we will!!! If want to enter directly the entry form can be found via this link. Don't forget, let me know, or tell Phil or Pete at the Club Night.
