Madness, Madness and more Madness

Hi Again All

Last night was the Maiden Newten Madness, and as Paul Walford said on twitter, madness it certainly was. A tough little 10k race of 6.54 miles (Part of the madness), superbly organised, tough, interesting and enjoyable course, great marshalls and some of the best cakes this side of the Stickler. Thanks to all at Maiden Newton Runners.

Best of all the Green and Whites had a great night, Paul won it in 39m 49s to retain his title, Mike Harvey won best in category and Rose was once again first lady, great habit Rose has developed, she is really having a superb season. Matt had a good race after forgetting his socks, coming in 17th. Mike and Rod were 12th and 13th, and Dave had a good comeback run, finishing in 15th place. Richard and I had a good battle all the way round, I was completing the second event of my current challenge. Sally Walford continues her good form as she comes back from her knee surgery, Paul chased her home.

All the results are below, well done everyone

Paul Rose, pleased after retaining his title

With the Olympics coming to an end, Martin thought you would like to see how Mo was set on the road to success, great advice Brian!!

The Advice that set Mo on his way!!

The results of the latest Yeovilton 5km are on the web site, link below. Great PB by Crispian, coming in at just over 19 minutes.

Hash news from Martin

Kat Jones has confirmed that the next Hash will be on Sunday 26th August, 11am at Manor Hotel, Hendford, Yeovil - there's limited parking, so park in the Octogan Car Park (there's also a wedding on there that day, so give your kit a brush before turning up!). The recce took place on Thursday - my legs have just about stopped ringing from the nettle stings!

Date for the diary - Weymouth Hash, Sunday 9th September - Old Ship, Upwey (directions to follow) - come and enjoy a hash, followed by an afternoon at the beach!

A report from Lesley on the Totnes 10k last week

Enjoyed a wet, muddy and slippery 10k at Totnes this morning. There were lots of prizes including 1st and 2nd in 5-year categories so managed to win a bottle of pinot grigio as 2nd female vet 60; unfortunately the winner of my age category also got the course record age category prize of £25, being 39 seconds faster than me - I shouldn't have walked part of the woodland hill!

Totnes 10k

Some members on the comeback trail, Deb Stanfield completed her first continuous 2 miles yesterday as she comes back from injury, she has set her sites on the Blenhiem Tri next June, wet suit purchased, she will be there!

Kimberley Anne Weston continues her challenge to run the equal of London To Brighton in the month of August, she is doing well and has now 'crossed the M25'. Nice one Kimberley, the 4.5miles she completed today proves it is becoming 'easier'.

Crispian is training for his 1st Ultra in October, giving Gill time to concentrate on her swimming, Gill is injured and unable to run, I hope she has good news from the scan on her hamstring this week!

Don't forget the Christmas do on 30th November, make sure it is the diary and let Phil know you are coming, price details to follow.
