Sometimes events overtake everything we do, to lose a brave young man with his life ahead of him in such a way, to deprive a small child of his Dad, there is NO justification and never will be. We carry on, but never, ever forget the price some pay. RIP Lee Rigby.

Hi All, how are you all doing? sorry I am a day late, had a 'chilling day' yesterday, well, did 35 miles on the bike through the stunning New Forest as still unable to run. I miss running with you lot, miss the races, I have wasted so many entry fees!! Seeing the Specialist on 12th June, so still no further forward!
Anyway there is loads going on for all you active, fit and enthusiastic Green and Whites, make the most of this, I am away next week in Sunny Malta, so unless someone else picks up the baton, no blog next weekend (hint hint Captain Matt!)
It’s the Ninesprings 9km and fun run on 9th
June, this is a brilliant day with Mike Sheads family providing the marshalls,
so no excuse from any Green and White, get there and run it (I have an excuse,
injured and on Holiday, but I am the excepetion!).
It really is a great little race, with a few lumps
and bumps to navigate, good fun and superb for EVERY level of ability!
Don’t take it just
from me, the ladies captain, Lesley

‘Don't forget the Ninesprings 9k and 2k fun
run in two weeks on 9th June. It's a great run, the Shead family provide the
marshalls and Mike Shead would like to see loads of green and whites running.
So
come along and support one of the local races; at the same time supporting a
good cause as proceeds go to St Margaret's Hospice.
There
will be tea and cakes to enjoy afterwards. Bring the family for a fun morning
out.’
Entry is available here

Guy sent me in a little story
from the Sunday run…
One for the blog, today there was two groups a fast
group and a faster group. The faster group had an uneventful run apart from
over taking a few cyclists up a hill. However the fast group had a few mishaps.
Lynne Thumpston (above) was nearly run over by the said cyclists and slipped 30 foot down into a fast flowing river and reports of a broken nail. Andrew Brown then dived in to rescue her and had to fight of a crocodile but it was too late for the nail. He sadly lost his sun glasses in the river and whilst failing to find them did find a motorbike.

He sadly lost his sun glasses in the river and whilst failing to find them did find a motorbike.
Meanwhile the rest of the group carried on with Debbie Neal showing
them the way however they decided not to listen to her directions and went
through 50 acres of 10 foot stingy nettles.
All in all a lovely run in the sun with the normal Tea, Coffee, Pasty's, Cakes and marshmallows...did I mention the pasty?

Lynne Thumpston then
said.. ‘Ha ha, my left foot hurts.........my right hand hurts...............
you do the hokey cokey and you turn around.................. but I wont because
I will probably fall over again. Big thanks to Fiona and Andy, sorry this
morning was a complete nightmare!!!!’
Be there for the Sunday Runs, Andrew says this week was the toughest ever, well sounds like it had some 'sting'
Paul Allen, Mr Marathon is
going to the Malaga Marathon is December and a few members are going with him,
anyone else interested? Paul is at the Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday runs, have
a chat with him…
As Paul said on Facebook…
Winter sunshine? Christmas shopping? A few San
Miguels and sangrias? Anyone fancy a trip to the Malaga Marathon on 8
Dec.......€35 to register before 31 Aug and cheap flights from Bristol (about
£90 return)........could be a laugh if we could get a group
together.......supporters welcome too.....
I have not heard much about the Wells Fun Run so
far, so any news will be ‘blogged’ later…
Had this in from Frome
A quick reminder that the Frome Half Marathon is hosting the 2013
Somerset Road Race Championship. The race is being held on Sunday 21st July,
starting at 10am, so it's time to get entries in please! It would be great if you could circulate this within your club.
Online entries are also available Frome Half
As last year there is also a 10K option (open to athletes aged 16
and upwards) and we have added a 5K race this year. The 5K is open to
athletes aged 11 and upwards so if you have a junior section in your club,
please let them know about this new event! Please use the same entry form for
these races and tick the appropriate box.
We will be running a 1K fun run for under 11s, starting
immediately after the main event. We will only be accepting entries for this
event on the day and all participants will receive a finisher certificate.
It would be great to see many of you there!
A mention for those on the dark side (cycling) doing the Tour of Wessex, in particular Paul Rose, I last heard he was about 170 miles in just starting Day 3! I have been doing a bit of cycling and believe me 170 miles is a LONG way!
A mention for Cris training for his first Half Ironman next month, for those doing the Blenheim Tri, everybody running a bit further than before or doing something a bit different. Challenge yourself and enjoy the achievement and then tell me all about it!
All races coming up are on our ever brilliant web site, thank you Guy, as well as Club Runs, Pub Runs, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday sessions are all there, about time someone filled up Monday and Wednesday, oh yes, Committee meetings and Yeovilton runs on Wednesdays, well there is still Mondays to see the other half, but you will probably be out on a 'long one'. Enjoy
Next Committee Meeting is Wednesday 5th June
A couple of races I recommend, the New Forest 10 in July, the Stur Half in August, and of course, The Stickler in the Autumn. Just hope I am back for that, one of the highlights of my year!
Another year is nearly half way through, and as the Old Man would say, getting older, getting slower! But keep pushing it back, keep challenging the boundaries, have the satisfaction in going out and beating those old enemies, Doubt, lack of confidence and lack of belief, because if you want it bad enough you can. No matter how fast you are going, you are going faster than the couch and when you have finished I bet you will be smiling...
Have a great couple of weeks, hope to see you all soon
Terry
