Wemb-er-ley

Well, as an Alien, I went to Wembley today just to see who the mighty Cherries will be playing in The Championship next season, and I am delighted it isYeovil, two reasons: I have an affection for the place having run with you guys for the last few years, but most of all, guaranteed 6 points for AFC Bournemouth next year.

Pictures courtesy of Gill and Cris... Thanks Guys

Mind you I am glad they were not my team, I was nervous as hell as they tried so hard to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the last 15 minutes, it must have been HELL for you lot!

Any way, well done Yeovil Town FC, look forward to seeing you all at Dean Court next season, and the support was outstanding, you did your club proud!

A note from new member Lewis Bacon

Hi ,

I'm a new member to YTRRC and ran in today's Crewkerne 10km, and despite the mass Exodus of many Yeovil residents to Wembley, the club managed to win the team event. I collected all four medals as there didn't seem to be any other YTRRC men around at the time, the trouble is I have no idea who the other runners were or how to get their medals to them. Can you help or point me in the direction of someone who can please?? I'm a regular up the track so was thinking I'll take them up there if all else fails!

I was 4th overall and YTTRC also had the first Lady and Queen of the hill in the shape of Sarah Trim, so all told good event for the club. There were other club members in the race but unfortunately I don't have names or finishing position.

This from Lesley

Well done to Aimee, Ed and Richard (Who did the long one, see further on) at Portland. Good run at Crewkerne 10k today - I'm sure they put some more hills there since last year!! Well done YTRRC; Sarah Trim 1st lady, Rose 1st FV35, 1st Men's team and possibly 1st Ladies Team - it is either us or Crewkerne - some problem with the results apparently, so watch this space.

Gathering for Crewkerne 10km

Well done to Lewis and Sarah

I have asked Lewis to take the medals on Tuesday or Friday!

And from Richard, taking on a tough one again...

Having not gone to Wembley, or part of a relay team, nor fancying the Crewkerne 10k, decided to trek down to Portland for the 11 mile Hard Way Round the Rock race. A varied course of Chesil Beach, fast grass tracks and very technical ups and downs along a wet coast path resulted in 2nd place overall! The winner was some 5 minutes in front though so musn't be too excited but will still celebrate with a glass of red tonight.
There was also a Yeovil jersey prominent at the front of the 5 mile race that I could see until the race routes split. Not having seen the results I unfortunately don't know the outcome.

And then had this from Aimee

Top morning at the Portland "Hard Way Round the Rock" 5 mile race. Ed Gibbs won the race! Therefore he was obviously also first male and he got the course record! :-) Top run Ed on the beach, scrambling over pebbles and up the Portland mountain. I also finished :-) Here he is with all his prizes

Here are the results for the Purbeck 10k which took place on 17th May. Nick Brooke 40.44
Flora Brooke 58.14. Mike Shead 57.02

Adam sent this, so in case I missed anyone on Fridays post, here is his e mail

Despite this being on the blog a few weeks ago, Paul has had no YTRRC entries, still time if you fancy it
The Wells Fun run is back this year on Sunday May 26th. It starts and finishes from adjacent to the Cathedral – a great setting and a challenging course available for all age groups and speeds. All of the Funds raised go to local charities

Wells City Harriers have supported the local committee that re-introduced these races some years ago. This year they have had to call the longer race the ‘Not Quite 10k’.

Why?

It’s simply because a new supermarket has been built on the outskirts of the City and the ensuing traffic light controlled junction has caused us a huge headache: to close the road past the supermarket the bill was of the order of £2,000 plus – something which simply was not feasible for the Fun ruin committee to contemplate. To keep the show on the road, the Harriers have backed the ‘Not quite 10k’ route (approx 6 miles or 9.7k).

Please advise your Club members the reason for this as  I know it does seem a bit odd. We can assure you that the race will still have the same atmosphere. Please encourage team-mates to enter by the closing date of May22nd.

There is also a 3mile race and junior races over 0.5km and 1km(approx.).

Mr Marathon, Paul is suggesting this, have a word with Mr Allen if you fancy it, if only I was fit...
Winter sunshine? Christmas shopping? A few San Miguels and sangrias? Anyone fancy a trip to the Malaga Marathon on 8 Dec.......€35 to register before 31 Aug and cheap flights from Bristol (about £90 return)........could be a laugh if we could get a group together.......supporters welcome too.....
Well done to all who did their 2 mile time trials at the track with The Clubs new Performance Director...

Flat out for two miles is hard, and I am sure Tim was giving you plenty of encouragement! I know there were some great times...

The Flying Duo!
Get there Friday if you can, a great session. All details are on the web site, all members are welcome
