The annual awards night is coming and we want to know who you think
should win an award
The awards "committee need your help as we don't know all club members or what they
have done over the past year. Un-like the government your vote may count but it will certainly be considered.

Hello.
This morning did Studland Stampede (12k). Great race, tracks, dunes, beach.
Toughish but nothing like the Ultra!! Didn't see any other green and whites but
for once wasn't even nearly last!! Adam

Finally finished all the races to qualify for my grand slam cap at Weymouth 10 yesterday. Also got my 8th P.B of the season.
Tried out the new and hillier route at the Gold hill 10k this morning. Of all the inclines in the race , Gold hill was by far the easiest. Try it next year. Nice race nice medal
Mark Gosney was at the Castle Cary 10km
Had a great race
today running the Castle Cary 10K.also put in a good time considering a few
hills and wet muddy conditions.well done to Laura Coppard for getting 2
trophies too.also to the other YTRRC who ran the event.
Daphne Barfoot also ran
the Weymouth 10 and sent this in… Nice
one Daphne!
I have just done my last race to qualify for the mini slam cap at Weymouth this morning. I still don't like hills - don't think I ever will!! I am never going to win medals for comimg first but I enjoy (most of the time) having a go considering 18 months ago I had never run!
What a great club
to be part of!! Thank you! Here Here!
The Bideford 50km Ultra
Well done to all who did the Bideford 50km Ultra,
Andrew, Lesley, Simon and Richard, what an achievement, total respect one and
all.. Its all about finishing.
Andrew said
Thanks Richard Dodge for the photo's and comments you are
so right about not enough training for this event. I had no comprehension about
the number of hills back to back, or how steep or high they would be. All said
and done , so glad we all finished ... I really feel sorry for the guy who got
to 27 miles before pulling out but great effort all the same
I did my first race since March when I went over to
Sussex to do the Crowborough Aquathon Long Course. 32 lengths of swimming followed
by an 8.75km run (I should say paddle as it poured with rain from start to
finish).
Super event brilliantly organised by Hedgeghogtri as always. But it
was cold!
And the swim marshall decided I was enjoying the
swim so much he would add in an extra couple of lengths for fun, thank you so
much….

This is Sarah from Crewkerne Running Club. Hope you are well?
Anyway, down to the reason for the e-mail - Crewkerne RC are hoping to arrange a Sports First Aid training Course with Hamdon First Aid which will probably be on Saturday 9 November at Stoke Sub Hamdon. The cost is £54 per person plus VAT.
Would anyone from Yeovil RRC like to join in?
Let me know either way when you can.

An
update from Chris Jones,
CEO England Athletics
Please ensure you are
part of the changes taking place within the sportOur sport is going through a very important time of change and it is very important to us that you are part of this process.
Over the past year England Athletics has worked to consult with our clubs in a way that we had never previously done. The clubs and people in the sport have responded by being open and honest with us, and we believe that the consultation events and findings of our online survey have also helped clubs be more aware and understanding of the different situations they each face.
Changes to how England Athletics operates
On Saturday, England Athletics held its Annual General Meeting where our clubs and member organisations voted on a number of fundamental changes to the way England Athletics operates. The changes were put forward as proposals by the England Athletics Board based on the findings from our consultation.
Amendments to our Articles of Association were approved which included changes that mean:
- Two positions on the England Athletics Board will be created with a process of election by clubs and member organisations. These seats are in addition to the two seats on the England Athletics Board that are currently allocated to representatives of the National Council.
- There
will be engagement between Regional Councils and the County Associations.
The group worked together to produce the amendments with the objective of expanding democratic representation and enhancing governance. The approval of this proposal by clubs and member organisations at the AGM helps us to move forward with our plans to support and expand our sport, and increase participation in all disciplines.”
Tony Shiret, chair on the England Council has commented that, “The Council welcomes greater direct participation of affiliated members on the Board following the Consultation. Governance is improving in England and this now needs to be extended throughout the sport.”
Getting involved and giving your views
I hope you will have seen in information emailed out, posted to clubs, placed on our website and in Athletics Weekly that at the end of the consultation the England Athletics Board decided that for 2014-15 the Athlete registration fee would be held at £10, and that the Club and organisation affiliation fee will be £75.
There are financial challenges ahead across our sport, including for England Athletics. It is all the more important that you are able to feed your views in. As well as our staff our Regional Councils are fundamental to this. Our Regional Councils will all be attending an event on 19 October as we work together to improve the effectiveness of the democratic processes in the sport. You can see details of the Regional Councillors in your area via the ‘About Us’ page for your region at My Area
We will also be holding a Consultation in the spring. We are determined to make consultation a fundamental part of our annual calendar and our sport’s culture. More details will be published at the consultation section of our website at consultation.
It is important when seeking the views of people in the sport that we can contact people on the matters which affect them. So please ensure your contact details are up to date at my profile and you are opted in to receive information on the sport. Also encourage others to do the same!
Thank you
Each year we hold major coaching conferences in the North, Midlands and South. This year these were held on 28/29 September. It was a pleasure to be in attendance and see the expertise and commitment of so many coaches.
We are very grateful to these people who do so much for our athletes and clubs. We held workshops for run leaders and the attendance of these increasing is a sign of the work we are doing to draw the recreational running scene closer to, and in to, the affiliated sport as we look to build the sport, support our clubs and cater for the diversity of clubs that now exist.
Our National Volunteer Awards and Hall of Fame night is on 19 October when individuals and clubs who have made outstanding contributions to our sport are rewarded. I would like to congratulate everyone who has won a Regional Award – I know the quality of your contributions to the sport have made the challenge of selecting of the National Winners no easy task!
Further ahead we are looking to the Commonwealth Games. With 300 days to go to the Games 130 athletes had already achieved A and B standards (athletes with A and B standards can be selected for events). We are likely to be sending our largest ever team to the Games in Glasgow which promises to be a tremendous event. We are always very mindful of the contributions of the clubs, coaches and volunteers who have helped athletes along the way to international recognition.
I would like
to thank you for the role you play in our sport and reaffirm the commitment
England Athletics has to building the sport in England and supporting those
people who work so hard to deliver athletics in our communities.
Everything else is on our excellent web site Club Site
