Our Chairman sent this in..
Dear Terry
I thought it was about time I made a
contribution to the blog.
On 13th October I ran the Gold Hill race, which
with the addition of an extra hill has made it an accurate 10k, and it is
to become part of the Dorset Race series. The organisation was excellent
under the race directorship of Ines Braun. Three YTRRC runners took part,
Jon Crane came 21st in 48:15, I was 49th in 56:32, and Jane Mills 61st in
59:39. 98 runners took part and the winning time was 38:54.
In 2010, in the "YTRRC Newsletter" I
wrote of my experience of the Birmingham Half Marathon, which was not
favourable. This year my son, Richard, and I returned to Birmingham
and we can only praise the organisers for all the improvements, which has now
made it an enjoyable race.
By chance on our way to the start we saw
another YTRRC running vest belonging to Sasha Chambers who was the only other
Yeovil runner in a field of 20,000! She ran with us and said that she
hoped to beat two hours. She finished in 1:50:34 over 12 minutes faster
than her previous personal best, which was a fantastic achievement.
However, a week later at the Beachy Head
Marathon I could not find Richard Dodge at the start in a field of only 1500
runners! The race covered a spectacular area of Sussex Downland with the
final six miles running along the top of the Seven Sisters
cliffs. The sun shone and the rain stayed away but the wind blew! I
finished in 675th place in 5:02:24, and later found from the results that
Richard finished in 5:17:20, so he was definitely there!
Great stuff Malcolm, good to see you running so well

The plan for Sunday is to meet at Montacute at
9:00am as normal and from there we will sort out cars and sharing to
Illminster. There will be a run option and hopefully left back or people can
make there own way to Illminster. Get there for 10:00am for a 10:30 start.
If you can post to say if you are happy to drive and how many you can take or bring back for those that run there. Also we are going to run the our Club Colours to show support. Can someone think about tea and cakes and where to do this? Most important....
