Oh What a week that was! The Angel Flying
Jill Harrison, World Champion!
Jill travelled to Brazil for the World Masters
and came away with the gold medal in the Ladies Masters 55 5000m in 19 minutes,
an amazing achievement which makes everyone at the club very proud.
Well done Jill, Angel Felix to all her FB
followers, the trip of a lifetime, the result of a lifetime, we are all proud
to know you.
In from Mike Harvey,
Hi Terry, some really great results at the
Exmoor Stagger and Stumble today. Conditions were really slippery and muddy
after heavy overnight rain which made life a bit treacherous. I have the
scars to prove it!
In the 6 mile Stumble Rod Appleby was 17th
in 58:45 and Richard Dodge was 46th in 1:10:29. Linda Membury also ran
this in 1:23
The 15 mile plus Exmoor Stagger, incorporating
3,000 ft of climbing up to and around Dunkery Beacon, also hosted the UK Trail
Running Championships. Sam Harvey, Simon Rowbottom, Lesley Nesbitt, Richard Boulter,
Rose Harvey and myself all completed the course, the last four coming away with
UK Gold medals for their age groups!
What with Jill's wonderful running in the World
Masters it has turned out a pretty good week for the club.
All the best,
Mike
And From Captain Lesley, where do you get the energy Lesley?
Well done to everyone who ran today. Several of us from Yeovil did the
Exmoor Stagger, 15.1 miles, although my Garmin said 16 miles - I obviously
'staggered' too much!
Lovely views, although rather cloudy so couldn't see Wales today, up to the
highest point on Exmoor at Dunkery Beacon and down the other side plus two
other nasty hills put in for good measure!
There were several awards to Yeovil runners. Rod Appleby, Richard Dodge and
Linda Membury did the Stumble, 6.5 miles of hills. Taster ready for the Stagger
next year Linda.
