Ham to Lyme

Ham to Lyme

Saturday saw the Albion Running Ham to Lyme Ultra, a 50k from The Ranger's Hut at Hamhill to Lyme. The Race started at 9:30 so Rob got there at 9:20 just in time for the bag drop and to collect his Race number. There were a few Club runners again for the second running of this event.
While the weather was great for running it is hard to believe that this was the middle of July and the view from LAMBERT'S CASTLE was the mist and no view of the Sea and our final destination and this was mid afternoon.

The route was better marked this year but still lagging in some places and thankfully we had Nikki in our group who knew the route and Simon the support driver who helped loads of runners who were going the wrong way.

I must thank the marshals and the people running the Aid stations who did a great job and also the photographers in the middle of nowhere but still spotted by Helen and Nikki who quickly sorted their hair out before we were in range of the lens.

I think Paul Card was the first Green and White over the line with Nikki and Helen crossing the line together. Sadly the weather got cold and windy so we decided to hit the Pub for some refreshments.

The Poster by Albion Running features a certain picture from last years event.

Sherborne Tri

Jo Henley was in Sherborne competing in the Tri and manage 3rd in her age group so well done Jo great stuff.

New Forest 10 Miler

Catherine and Luke went to the New Forest for this 10 miler so they can both get their Club Hats. The first Club runner over the line was Luke and first lady was Judith Wilson. The full results can be seen here.

Maiden Castle Loop

The latest Club Championship race was on Saturday the Maiden Castle Loop. Adam posted:

Last night there were five YTRRC runners at the Maiden Castle Loop 10k. The weather was misty and very windy up on the hill. This is a great 6.4 mile race with hills, fields and the challenging uneven ramparts around the castle - very enjoyable, I was last from start to finish!!

T shirts and bananas at the finish but no refreshments afterwards!

Steve Lee was the first Club runner over the line with Mel Denham our first lady. The full results can be seen here. Sadly the photograph had a hard time focusing.

Wild Dart Swim

Katie Brooks did the Wild Dart Swim the other day:

Well boys and girls, i did it :-) swam 2.5k down the river dart and ran 3.5 miles back. The most physical and mentally demanding thing i think i have EVER done. Was in the water for best part of 2 hours, battling against the current, sometimes only doing a few meters in a few minutes. legs cramped up a lot and almost gave up until i gave myself a good talking to (more like a shouting match) and with sheer grit and determination finished it. The run was the easy part, well apart from when my tri suit unzipped running through Totnes to reveal my sports bra ;-) Would recommend it to anyone but think i will mostly stick to running :-)  now do i do Maiden loop tonight ? ;-)

Dorset Invader

Next weekend see the Dorset Invader races by White Star, with the Half on Saturday morning the Chaos Saturday evening and the Marathon on the Sunday. It also just happens to be my 100th Marathon. There are a few of us Camping all weekend and some just coming for the races. I plan to camp and run all three races and on Sunday hopefully loads of the Club will be there to help me celebrate. You are all welcome.

There will be loads of cake and also food vendors there as well, there is free parking (its a field) and all being well the presentation will be around 2:00 pm giving 5 hours for the Marathon or maybe later if there are still some Club members running. I would like to get a Club Photograph with as many as possible as well. The postcode for the event is DT11 9AW so only down the road.

Thanks
