NDVM
First of all I would like to thank Gillingham Trotters for putting on yet another well run Marathon and Relay, with Hog Roast, free beer or cider and a massage for the runners and perfect weather for running it was a great day.
Some of the YTRRC Runners at the start |
There was a down pour as we arrived and collected our numbers but this stopped as we took the Club start photo and then the walk down the hill to the start.
The Sun did pop out during the Race and it even got hot a couple of times but all in all it was good running weather. At various places around the Course Jane Allen and Kat Harris popped up for Jelly Babies and other snacks and Kat took some great photographs that are available on Facebook and will be added to the Club Album over the next few days. Thanks to both of you and I know all the runners really appreciated it. Also Phil and the Sunday runners turned up and gave loads on encouragement and even ran with a few people to help with the last few miles.
The Relay also started at the same time and YTRRC had some teams in that as well.
Richard moving well |
Fiona overtaking a Doddler |
There are a couple of people to mention first to the First male for the Club Gary Stickley on his first Marathon and Anna Lloyd first Club female and also managed a GFA for London so great running both of you. The full results can be seen here.
The wind was the spoiler at the Picnic after the Race but still the there was enough Cake to feed Somerset and the Hog Roast was well needed.
There was none left in the end |
Neolithic Marathon

Not a bad spur of the moment decision. Had a good race around Glastonbury Tor this morning and came in 2nd overall in 35:30, a new 10k PB.
Hope 24
There are loads of YTRRC runners heading down to Plympton on Saturday for the 24 hour 5 mile loop team run. So Saturday and Sundays runs will be low on numbers but hopefully our Run Coordinator will let people know what is going on.
