The Yeovil Half Marathon 2016

The Yeovil Half Marathon

Today saw the new route for the Yeovil Half Marathon with the Club having 79 runners taking part. There were also a few PB's out there as well. The people of Yeovil gave some great support around the route which helped.

Thanks to the support team at our Aid Station, Jane and Paul Allen with Peter Jakeman ready for anyone that wanted a rub down. There are some photographs and write up from the Yeovil Press that can be seen here

Lewis Bacon was the first Club member over the line in a time of 01:24 with Sarah Trim first lady with 01:34. Also a mention to Fez and Jo both did well and getting PB's along with a few others. The Full Results can be seen here.

We did really well as a Club and here are the Category Results:

A few of the posts on Facebook

FromJo:

Another day to say I am a proud member of Yeovil Town RRC. With the help & support of this club & my fiends I smashed my half marathon PB coming in with a time of 1:43:52, nearly 12 minutes faster!! Too many people to mention them all but special thanks to Paul Allen, the jelly babies were perfectly timed. Brian Mountjoy-Row for running with me for a bit. Phil MacQuaid & all the club members shouting support along the route. Gill Morris & Dave, always good to see smiling faces. Thank you all. Now to spend the rest of the day in my PJ's!!

For me the photograph of the day and great to see running again.

Some other photographs of the Half:

Hampton Court Half

Joanne and Jon did the Hampton Court Half and posted this:

Hampton Court Half Marathon done. New pb for both me and Jon. I came in 2.05 (20 mins quicker than my old pb) and Jon did a sub 1.30.

North London Half Marathon

Well done to Simon and Ollie who completed the North London, the full results can be seen here.

The Wessex Ridgeway Relay Race

from Rob:

The Wessex Ridgeway Relay race, this event is very popular and fantastic fun,
please let Rob Jones know if you’re interested – soon!
On 22nd May the club is entering two (or more) teams in the Wessex Ridgeway Relay race
that is organized by the Gillingham Trotters Running Club. The course uses approximately
60 miles of the stunning 138 mile trail, running from Marlborough in Wiltshire to
Lyme Regis on the Dorset coastline; the relay race itself starts from Tollard Royal in Dorset finishing in Uplyme (near Lyme Regis). The race is split into 12 stages ranging in length from 3 to 9 miles, each team uses a minibus to progress from start to finish via the handover
points. The route uses some of the most exposed terrain in Dorset and the
competitors are expected to navigate the course without assistance from
marshals. The route is waymarked, and route descriptions and maps will be
provided. It is strongly recommended, however, that all runners perform a
reconnaissance of their stages before the event; this is best done
with fellow club members by having a car parked at both ends of your stage/s.

Notices

The Club are running the Drinks and Food at the Easter Bunny so any Cake contribution would be great. Also Peter Jakeman is looking for marshals for the Bunny so pleae let him know if you can help. Thanks
