The Mad Cow
This weekend saw the Running of the Mad Cow with a Full Marathon on Saturday followed by a 10k and then a Full and a Half today. WSR always has a good YTRRC following and camping in the rain was also available (at a cost).
Saturday saw Paul Allen take third place and Jon Crane first YTRRC runner over the line, first lady was Helen Nesbit. I am not sure but it might also have been Louise's first Trail Marathon. Well done to all that ran on the Saturday Full and at least the weather held out. The full results can be seen here.
The 10k was a very fast field and Anita was the first YTRRC over the line with a sprint finish to beat Joanne Crane, Sean Gaffney was the first male for the Club. The full results can be seen here.
On the Sunday saw a few more of the Club come down and a surprise entry in the Half from Pete Jakeman who was the first Club runner over the line with Joanne Crane first lady. The full results can be seen here.
The Full saw the same result as Saturday with Paul in third and Jon first Club runners over the line with Helen first lady.
Then we had a Club runner that I think said to me months ago "My marathon days are long gone and never again". Never again means a Quad one week and a double marathon the week after, I didn't know that. Well done to Jo Henley on her first of many doubles. Jo ran well and every time I saw her drinking, I mean running she was actually running and not walking. Very well done, have you heard of a Triple or a Quad?
From Jo:
Day 2 done!! 5:01 yesterday & 5:05 today so very happy with that. A MASSIVE thank you to the Yeovil Town RRC, your support & encouragement made it happen. Now then NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
From Kat:
Thank you to Chris for helping me run today love you <3 ,and our wonderful YTRRC crew, the awesome White Star Running peeps, Andy Palmer, Ginny Palmer, Kevin Day and all the other lovely peeps, it was a challenge as I was nearly hospitalised Monday.
Marathon no. 3 done 6hr 52. in 24 months I have done 3 marathons and 22 half marathons and at least 10 months of this I was on bed rest.
Well done Chris for marathon no 33 today!
Its sure a big day for celebrations, my boys come home today after 2 weeks away, lets break open the shiraz.
Feel like I have my life back
Extreme North
Last weekend Paul Allen, Pete Jakeman and I took part in the Irish Quad in Donegal. With a Half Marathon and Full as well everyday. The Quadrathon courses are 4 separate routes over 104.8 mile of coastal roads around Inishowen 100 / Wild Atlantic Way scenic route.
Paul and I did the Full and Pete not being so daft did the Halfs. You get a medal after each race and when you finish the last one there is a table with some screwdrivers to add them all together. It is some medal and very heavy.
Overall a very hard four days and I will not rush back to do it again but would recommend it to Jo Henley for her first Quad.
