First, you should all have had your letters from Phil with reference to the celebrations of the clubs 30th Anniversary on 23rd June, don't miss out, get your responses back as soon as possible. The team running event in the afternoon will be great, and the evening do will be a bit special. So be there and be part of the celebrations...
Today was the Chard Runners Run in the Wild, it was hot and hilly I am told, the good news is that Paul Rose was the race winner. Nice one Paul! No results available so watch for an update during the week.
Anita had an interesting debut at the long Sunday Run... In her own words
First time I join the club on a Sunday Run, (Having just finished 3 nights at work) at about half way round I miss my footing on a log bridge and slide unceremoniously into a nettle lined, sticking, stagnant, muddy bog, Emerging looking like an advert for camouflage make up. Thanks to everyone for the dock-leaves and hope I gave you a laugh! The legendary tea and cakes were great at the finish so I think I will be back but may try to stop talking and look where I am going next time!
Hope you are ok Anita, sounds like an interesting morning, but it makes you realise was good fun these Sunday runs are (When you don't fall in a pond). Debs does a great job, be there if you can!
Nice one Anita, one point, running with other women, stop talking, MMMMmmmmmm.
I went on my annual trip to Ropley for the Ropley 10k, nice event with a great atmosphere, it was hot, it was hilly, it starts up hill and does not like to break the habit with snorting climbs at 5k and 9k. The best part for me was the sausage from the BBQ afterwards and the latte on the way home. There was a good pre race massage for a contribution to Help for Hero's, the pain just made me realise doing an off-road training session the day before a race is not intelligent planning. 48-23 was quicker than last year.
Next week is the Egdon Easy, now who has ever done an 'easy' 10k? I will be there and I am sure a load of you will be. 7pm in Weymouth, details on the web site calendar.

On the following weekend is Ninesprings, lets make this a tremendous event for the club while raising funds for The Hospice, all the details are on the link below. The club have suspended the necessity to provide a marshal if you want to run, so lets get everyone there and make it more special than it already is, details below on the link...

This looks interesting!!! A New Marathon! A week before the New Forest!
Ladies & Gents,
I have gathered your respective e-mail addresses via your various running club websites and now wish to kindly request your assistance.
I am organising a charity cross-country marathon event in the Weymouth area. This will take place on the 15 Sep 12.
The event has historically been held as a 25 mile charity walk. Indeed the walking event will continue but has now been extended to full marathon distance. Further details can be found on the Hangers Heroes website.
This year will be the first time that a concurrent charity run will be held. There is also an option to complete a half-marathon distance run, although this is not detailed on the flier.
I have run the route on three previous occasions and can assure you that this is a fantastic challenge that will test you and your fellow athletes. Therefore, I would like to invite you and your club-mates to compete.
I would very much appreciate it if you could advertise this event within your running club community and have attached a flier with all of the initial information required. The flier includes details of some of the charities that will benefit. Again further information can be found on the Hangers Heroes website.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Kind regards,
Jase

For those of you who so kindly supported Challenge 333 some positive news from Action Duchenne
£225,000 OF FUNDING FOR HALO THERAPEUTICS
Thanks to your generous support we have been able to contribute significantly to supporting trials of a therapy to reduce fibrosis in Duchenne patients.
Action Duchenne is to provide funding of £225,000 to support Halo Therapeutics in their quest to develop HT-100, the company's proprietary formulation of halofuginone, a derivative of a compound found in a plant used in Chinese herbal medicine. We believe that HT-100 has great potential as it may be able to halt or even reverse fibrosis, which is the scarring that occurs in muscles of Duchenne boys. Treat NMD's advisory committee are very enthusiastic about the potential of this treatment.
HT-100, which has received Orphan Drug designation in both the US and EU, is expected to go into Phase II trials in Duchenne patients in the second half of 2012.
This is a very signficant agreement, in partnership with 12 other organisations $1.1m has been raised to support this project. This demonstrates our continued commitment to fund a wide range of potential new treatments. We are determined to find a cure for Duchenne and have a number of important projects which, with your help, we are funding, including Pilot Trials Now and most recently with Royal Holloway to product full length dystrophin.
This is only possible due to the generosity and dedication of our supporters and fundraisers across the UK.
If you have any questions about the project with Halo Therapeutics, or any of the other research projects we are funding please email Nick Catlin , Head of Research: nick@actionduchenne.org

This is why I will be coming up with another challenge soon and Ian is attempting to run 365km next week, most of which will be the Severn Challenge, and why Richard will be doing his 3 race challenge in July
