The Stur Half and other bits!

Hi All

Another Weekend, the weeks fly by. First I want to talk about the club run on Tuesday night, thank you to all who responded to Matts post, we had a great night, I helped lead the five milers, loved it. Great route, (Part of the Tintin 10 route), nice soft mud, and best of all super company. Phil took the six milers off half way round while our more sedate group went on to find a load more very smelly mud! The tempo runners went off, saw them on the way round, looked like they were also enjoying themselves. Oh, and we also managed a 'nice' hill. Tuesday's are a bit special and long may it continue!

Today was the Stur Half, in a cool breeze and with downpours all the way round, it was an interesting race. The event is superbly organised and run by The Dorsett Doddlers and as the Club Championship Half it was well attended by the Green and Whites. A bigger report will be on the blog later in the week once the results and pics are available. A mention for Paul Rose, a sub 8o min run despite concentrating on his long distance triathlon training recently, Matt had a good run, around 1h 34m I believe, and I think Rose was around 1h 38m. I had a PB so a pleasing morning. Report to follow! Well done to all the Green and Whites. I hope Nick recovers from a tight back that stopped him taking part today.

Not everyone was at the Stur Half, Richard Boulter did the Seaview 17, he sent me this

“Ran the Seaview 17, a 20 and a bit mile race from Countisbury to Minehead today for the 3rd year in a row. Rain at the start and sunny by the end made ideal running conditions though a bit wet and slippery underfoot for much of the way. Really chuffed to finish 5th in 2:53mins. Fred Fox was happy to come 31st After feeling below par for few weeks and Sue Fox breezed round to crack the 4 hour mark in 3:59 and found the hills 'easy'.”

More great results for the club! Well done Richard, Fred and Sue

The Sunday Run had some glowing reports on Facebook as usual, in August I am coming over, the cakes sound too good not to! Joanna and Emma Smith said what a great morning it was!

The Friday Track Session also gets rave reviews, give it a go, details on the web site

Haselbury Trail on Wednesday, now this really is a fantastic night out and there are always a load of Green and Whites. Its a great location, an 'interesting' course with a good bar and BBQ afterwards. Come and join in!

I ran the Gatton Summer 10k on Wednesday up in Surrey, twice to the top of the North Downs, hardest 10k I know, loved it. Great night with my Mum (My home town Reigate) cheering me in!
