Going Loopy Around Maiden Castle

Hi All

Not much to report this week, it has been quiet on Facebook and on e mail, its that time of year, apart from... It was the re-arranged Maiden Castle Loop last night, I was gutted I could not make it as I was delayed by the worlds biggest car park, otherwise known as the M25. 8 Miles in two hours, nice!

I had a report from Rose and the one below from Lesley, another stonking night for the Green and Whites! Paul winner - again, Rose 1st Lady again, , Lesley category winner again,  Mens - Team Winners again! What can I say, all I have to do each week is change the name of the race. If one more woman had run we would have won the ladies as well, but we have to give the other clubs the chance of something!!!!!

Fantastic Paul, Rose, Lesley, Rod, Leyton, Richard and Adam, did the club proud as always!

From Lesley...

There were several Yeovil runners at the re-scheduled Maiden Castle Loop race last night. The temperatures were a couple degrees lower than in Yeovil, mainly due to fog setting in, but it was still very hot. Good race and strange watching the faster runners, who looked like lemmings silhouetted in the fog on the other side of the Castle loop.

Yeovil did well in the awards again, Paul winning, Rose 1st lady and FV40 winner, me FV60 winner and Yeovil men won the Team prize. If only we had had one more female runner we would have also won the Ladies Team prize and come away with a bottle of wine!

Paul Rose 40:37
Rod Appleby 46:20
Leyton Green 46:49
Richard Boulter 47:08
Rose Harvey 49:50
Lesley Nesbitt 57:23
Adam Hawkins 80:19

Forest of Dean Autumn Trails Half Marathon & 5km run

This has been received for anyone interested

Dear Club Secretary
I would be grateful if you would remind your club members of these two runs (for those not running in the flat bristol road HM).
Online Entries for the Half Marathon close on 31st August.
5k entries available on the day for a small extra charge.  No on the day entries for the Half Marathon
The HM is a new event , using a different course to our successful Spring HM.  We were aiming at a few hundred for the first year and entries have just passed 350 so we are looking at a field of over 400 for the HM and based on the last years numbers around 100 for the 5k..
Both events start and finish on the Speech House Field as does our Spring Half. The Autumn Half though will stay completely off road and is a little hillier, running onto Staple Edge at the highest point of the run before returning via Mallards Pike Ponds and back to the Speech House.
The 5k route folows the same route as in previous years sharing start a finsh with the HM but staying within the Speech House woods
As with the Spring Half; Free on-site parking, Small athletes village, Chip timing (not 5k), Water Stops, First Aid, Fully Marshaled.
Date :    Sept 30th 2012 , Speech House, Forest of Dean.
Time;    10:00 HM    10:15 5km
Entries and further information.

This weeks Club Run includes Round 4 Of the Members 5k Handicap, there will be other runs available.

Details of all other club activities are on the web site, including pub runs, Friday track Session, Sunday long run etc are on the web site

That's it, Challenge 54321 continues, Triathlon comeback next Sunday!!

Train well, set out your goals, go and achieve them

All the very best, Terry
