Great Western - and we need a Tea Man!

Hi All, the blogs keep coming - News on the Great Western and an appeal

Great Western Start 2012

The Great Western 10k is only 3 weeks away on 10th March. The weather is improving so come along everyone get your entries in and take up the challenge. We need half a dozen people to help set up on the Saturday morning of 9th March probably at 9am - time will be confirmed shortly. On the day of the race if you REALLY don't want to run then you may like to come along to help with registration or the finish line. Sherborne Rotary Club provide all the marshalls. Pete, Mel and Lesley are doing a recce/risk assessment this Saturday (23rd), 9am at Leweston School, and on the day of the race you can come along early and run the course (again time to be confirmed). We look forward to receiving lots of entries shortly!! Link to website -

We need some help, we need someone to do teas, coffees and refreshments at the six Yeovilton 5k races through the summer. The person will be responsible for stock, setting up, holding the stock, clearing up afterwards (There will always be help around) and maintaining the stock. The club pay for the stock and all monies go to the club. If you can help please get in touch with Phil or Pete at club nights or drop me an email on tbyrne@crownpetfoods.co.uk and I will pass your details on.

Great chance to help the club and your fellow runners, so come on, if you can help please get in touch.

I have just entered the New Forest 10 in July, below is the letter I received. Its a very good race with a large entry, it is chipped time and a really good Sunday out. There are always a few Green and Whites who give it a go. This is the letter I received...

Dear Runner

Since you have shown interest in our race in the past, I am writing to remind you that this year's race is taking place on Sunday, 14th July.  We’re hoping that we are going to have better luck with the weather this year as it was very upsetting to have to disappoint so many runners in 2012.  It was unbelievable how many events had to be cancelled during the year as a result of the appalling weather.  I am attaching an entry form and further information about the race can be found at this link.  It would be appreciated if you would make this information available to your running friends and, if you belong to a club, your fellow club members.

The race has filled up for the last few years so, if you wish to take part, prompt action is recommended.  If you have already entered the race, please accept my apologies for having troubled you.  A list of the entrants can be found here

I went to the club night on Tuesday, what a super night as always, with so many options, something for everyone. The Half and Marathon training is going well. Thanks to everyone there, great to see Martin back running and talking, its been so quiet while he has been away!! Welcome back, great to see you!

So much credit to all those helping with training, arranging runs and keeping people motivated.

Had these in from Pete about the pub run NEXT week, the 28th

Hi All, Our intrepid Chairman is hosting the Pub Run on the 28th Feb, now there are two things, one, it's a bit further away than normal so perhaps car sharing may make things easier and also we could do with an idea of numbers to help with the planning.

So, if you intend to come along, injuries and colds permitting, please let Pete know, thanks.
