Paul at the North Dorset, he will be helping anyone who want to train for an Autumn Marathon |
Hi All
So the Spring marathons are over, the Autumn Marathons etc are on the way... so the peace as you go from recovery back into training, big Summer 10km's on the way, the Summer 5km continue, and there are some members training hard for the Ultra's that are round the corner. Ash Tree Trail approaches fast, details below, the results on the 2nd Yeovilton 5km, and the far more important children's fun run are all on the ever excellent Club Web Site
For me it's about getting my injury finally accurately diagnosed and getting the treatment to get it sorted, my target is to be back for the New Forest 10 in July, but that maybe optimistic. Any one else out injured you have my sympathy. I am a lousy patient, I have been on a massive downer since I broke down on my final taper run before London, but I have been lucky, this is my first major injury for a long time.
So all of you running, go out and enjoy and make the most of what you can do, summer is a great time for running, you see places others miss and you feel great with it, especially when you run with the best running club around.
Most important, THIS TUESDAY, The AGM, your club, your meeting, just be there... Even if just for the free Sausage and Chips. And don't forget the club 5km handicap before the AGM. See you all at the football club on Tuesday.
IMPORTANT
Your Clubs Annual General Meeting as required by the Club
Constitution will be held in The Vice Presidents Lounge at
Yeovil Town FC at 2000 (8PM) on this Tuesday, 14th May.
It is requested that club members attend as this is the time for you to have your say about the immediate future for your club.
The Chairman will produce an agenda prior to the meeting

A very important message from Kat

The bride to be with Angel |
A reminder of what Phil sent a couple of weeks ago...
The time is fast approaching to book the clubs annual trip to Argentan in FRANCE for the first weekend in October
The cost should be in the region of £170
In the first instance I want to gauge the level of interest as we need 23 traveller's to make the trip viable. Other half's, friends are welcome, in fact anyone as long as we can make up the numbers so that we can attract the Group rates for the ferry
Leave Yeovil at 0400 Fri 4th Oct, Breakfast on the Ferry, Race on Saturday 5th followed by a Dinner and Dance. Return on Sunday arriving at Yeovil about or before midnight
For more details see Phil MacQuaid, Debs Neal or Pete Jakeman

2. Club 5k handicap -
this Tuesday , 14th before the AGM, from the football ground.
I
will use recorded times for last year plus times from this
year's Yeovilton 5ks. If you don't have one of these please come with
an expected time for 5k [an honest one!!] I will try to start the
watch for 40 minute runners as close to 6.30 as possible.
3. Jack and
Jill Race today - great race including hills, rivers mud
etc, very well organised, great fun.
I think there
were three Yeovil runners Leyton Green, who was around 10th, Jane Mills and
myself. I was last for almost the entire race but overtook two runners,
including a tiger, in the last few 100metres!

And from Wells
Hi all,
Hi all,
The Wells Fun run is back this year on Sunday May 26th. It
starts and finishes from adjacent to the Cathedral – a great setting and a
challenging course available for all age groups and speeds. All of the Funds
raised go to local charities
Wells City Harriers have supported the local committee that
re-introduced these races some years ago. This year they have had to call the
longer race the ‘Not Quite 10k’.
Why?
It’s simply because a new supermarket has been built on the
outskirts of the City and the ensuing traffic light controlled junction has
caused us a huge headache: to close the road past the supermarket the bill was
of the order of £2,000 plus – something which simply was not feasible for the
Fun ruin committee to contemplate. To keep the show on the road, the Harriers
have backed the ‘Not quite 10k’ route (approx 6 miles or 9.7k).
Please advise your Club members the reason for this as I
know it does seem a bit odd. We can assure you that the race will still have
the same atmosphere. Please encourage team-mates to enter by the closing date
of May22nd.
There is also a 3mile race and junior races over 0.5km and
1km(approx.).

If any of you fancy it, the next H5 hash is on Sunday 26th
May - 11am, FORESTER'S ARMS, HOLYWELL BA22 9NF

I've carried out the recce and am planning the beer
stop at a Yeovil landmark that I reckon none of you - not even Phil - have
ever been to before! Intrigued?!
Hash running is good fun and suits runners of all abilities
- it really is the more the merrier! The route for Sunday 26th is about 4
miles, further if you keep finding false trails - and plan is for a beer stop
and a jelly baby stop with nice views at each! (For a bit of information about
hashing and recent hash runs, including photos, do have a look at Mixy's Bit on Mixy2
Please let me know if you are coming by e-mail or text so I can forewarn the
Pub of numbers.
