Just to let you know that I ran the Cheddar
Gorge 1/2 marathon on the 23rd of June. Lots of endless steep climbs and
tricky, wet, rocky trails, although with some stunning views from the highest
points of the Gorge.
Very similar to the Exmoor Stagger. Ran my slowest
ever 1/2 marathon time of 1:57:35 which I was actually pleased with. Ended up
in 18th place out of the 123 who survived and first vet 50. First and only
Yeovil vest too!
All the best,
Mike
Great Mike, well done
Next week is the Committee meeting, all details on the web site

This weekends running, a note from James...
The weekend’s running:
Whilst others are sitting round a stone circle doing drugs, hearing the thud thud of Stones Rolling, Monkeys in the Arctic and telling Vampire Weekends stories there will still be running available for others. (Wellies are not compulsory!)
Saturday morning (9am) opposite the football club the British F1 team will be heading out for third practice. We’ll have new tyres on and I’ll happily lead a 6-7miler for those who are interested. There will be no “super group” as Super Man is doing yet another Marathon. There will be strawberries and cream as recovery to cheer on that Scottish twit with maybe an emotional speech to boot!
Sunday morning (9am) at Goldenstones the normal Green and Whites longer run will be hosted by Lynne who will not be Painting It Black. Somewhere in the region of 9-10miles (I think). I’ll happily lead a medium pace group and we’ll go a bit further and do the Yeovil Half Marathon route in reverse. Again, the Super Group is yet to be confirmed.
Then we can all go home and watch the lights go out and GO GO GO!!
Does that all sound alright everyone!?
4th May 2014 - North Dorset Marathon, keep it free!
14th July this year, New Forest 10, great race, see if there are spaces left... At Brockenhurst, nice day out with another 1000 runners
Kat and Pauls wedding next week, best of luck you two, have a wonderful day and a great reception at the Preston Hotel on Friday!
Fancy a five mile PB, this might be of interest from Active Training World

More from James and Anita in case you missed their e mail...
Ok all, there's a bit to be going on with, I go in hospital on Monday to have a bit of a repair job on my knee, then I hope to be on the comeback trail. I have been a bit out of touch and fed up, but I hope my Surgeon will sort me out.. So if I have missed anything, or the posts have been less than usual, apologies!!
Plans if it works out ok, The Stickler, The London Marathon, An Ultra and, if I get in, The Grizzly. Gentle come back, I hope. I will have other things on my mind on Sunday, so this is the weekend blog, sorry. Next blog sometime next week!
Have a great weekend and enjoy your running
