Ham Hill Hash
The Club’s offshoot the Ham Hill Hash House Harriers celebrates its 10th anniversary at its next hash on Sunday 29th September from the Fleur de Lis, Stoke sub Hamdon at 11am. This will also be the last regular monthly hash for the time being – so if you have hashed with us at any time over the past ten years, please feel free to come along so we can go out with a bang!

Please let me know if you are coming so I can estimate numbers for pub and beer stop purposes!!

Parkrun

James is concentrating on the Montacute Parkrun (under his leadership) has now run successfully for the past two weekends. We had 152 runners at the inaugural run and 88 yesterday, including a good number of the Green & White vests.

The Parkrun is a free timed 5km run (it’s a run not a race!) that takes place every Saturday morning at 9am. The Montacute parkrun starts at Montacute House and is a challenging off-road course, so ideal for cross-country training, or simply to use as the opportunity to get a time for a set distance. Several runners incorporated the event into longer training runs – running out from Yeovil, doing the 5km and then heading off again!

Whilst the Club has its own Saturday training groups, this just offers another option – I’ve been taking the family out and the children like running in the Park and playing on the swings whilst the runners are going round, and the coffee shop is a pleasant place to go after the run! (James can always find family members a marshalling job to keep them occupied…)

There is no charge but you do need to register with Park run before running – go to Park Run  and get your individual barcode; you bring this to the run, and at the end of the run this is scanned together with a finish-place barcode and the results go up shortly after the run; James tells us they were on the Parkrun main web within 14 seconds of him uploading them this week!

If you do come out to Montacute and you are a National Trust member , bring your membership card please.
See you on Saturday!

This from Lesley, our Ladies Captain and Championship coordinator

"Yet another update on the club championships pages. Please read the website Home Page; the Awards and Championship Page and the Rules. These have been updated. For the Distance championship, slam hat and slam hat crown awards please send Lesley your date of birth or age on day of the relevant race (sorry, but if you don't you won't qualify!).

By reading the pages on the website all should make sense but please contact Lesley (lesley.218@hotmail.co.uk) if you want more info.

Even if you haven't yet completed all races for the slam hats please let Lesley know as soon as possible which Hat you are aiming for so she can get an order in to the supplier."

Thanks
Lesley
