Training for the long one and 666 - Just because you can

Every one’s doing it, doing it, doing it… Training for the long one’s

Pushing out the Barriers - From Mike
Congratulations to all who completed the 18 mile marathon training run this morning, especially the 3 ladies, Georgina, Kathrine and Steph (she’s  the one hiding in the picture behind a cuppa), who all ran the furthest they have ever done.
Wasn’t an easy route, it contained almost 1200 feet of total climb including a couple of long big hills. Heavy rain was expected but it didn’t happen which was nice for a change, however the wind did its best to blow us backwards on the way home from Sherborne. A few aches and empty tanks at the end, but otherwise all looking good, keep it up girls (Mark and Chris as well).
Footnote: All those with Garmins who reckoned we clocked just over 19 miles better get them checked out before your runs next weekend, my 1999 Clio odometer doesn’t lie!

From Captain Lesley, good to see her back

Nice thought, Helen & my long run out of the way early this weekend - can now relax tomorrow. 18 miles, 10 min/ml running time. Nice route Coker/Yetminster/Stoford. Now signed up for Yeovil Half!

And I did 12 on Friday and 25 over the weekend, playing catch up after injury. The Grizzly and the VLM coming up fast, probably to fast

And fantastic to see Richard Dodge back

He wrote 'a big test today at the dalwood ten? am I fit to get around the grizzly course in two weeks time my 25th grizzly think I will go for it after 3 mouths out of running. See you there Rich, couple of crocs together, and we are both mad enough!

Route finalised, Run 666, 6.6 miles, on the 6th April. Muddy as hell, . Be there and be aware, do it once, twice or three times. Run walk or crawl. On 6th April a lovely route in the New Forest, followed by cakes and refreshments at mine. Come for a great day out! Fun or training, Starting from Holmsley near Christchurch..

The Start
A nice gentle start

Spectators all round the route

Stunning scenery

Most certainly 'off road'

Beautiful

When the sun shines

It will dry out .. a bit

It needs to dry out 'quite a lot', great fun!

Amazing views

Civilisation and nearly at 'The Hill'

The Hill, looks quite tame ... Its not!

Great view from the top, so good you will want to see it again!

You don't need trees for a beautiful forest

Follow the poles, or the track or the mud..

Not far now

off to the left...

Route a bit wet at the moment!

Almost end of lap 1, lets do it again...

Now you all want to do it, and we had a deer run across in front of us this morning. Come and do it just because you can. If doing London a nice gentle warm up, if NDVM then do the 18 as part of your taper. Doing a 10k, do one lap, doing a half then do a couple. Otherwise come and walk run or crawl, the only important thing... Have fun, smile and have a laugh and bring cakes!

Have a good week, see you all soon

Terry
