A Busy Weekend in North Dorset and Glastonbury and the committee Meeting and the AGM!

DON’T FORGET THE AGM and THE CLUB HANDICAP 5KM – NEXT TUESDAY AT THE FOOTBALL CLUB. HANDICAP 6:30pm FOLLOWED BY AGM WITH FREE FOOD… Let Phil know if you want the veggie option!

Greetings all, loads going on last weekend, the NDVM, The Glatonbury 5 and 10km and many training and getting in the miles.

Before the Marathon

There were some great achievements this weekend, with Green and Whites proving to themselves what they are capable of, from Louise putting on a number and representing the club for the first time in the Glastobury 5km, to Georgina finishing her first Marathon in under 5 hours, to Paul with a fantastic 6th place marathon finish and first Female Vet 60 to Lesley, finishing in a fraction over 4 hours, the ladies captain leading from the front as always.
Captain Lesley

Paul Coaching them home

Everyone achieves, no one fails! The green and white vest has been brilliantly worn by everyone this weekend, be proud of yourselves. The club is proud of every one of you!

And a big thank you to Phil from Georgina, for running the last 4 miles with her, Phil you are a star! Everyone in Team Marathon should be feeling 10 feet tall this week. And a big well done to everyone providing support!

On his way to 6th!

And a special mention to someone who does not wear the green and white in marathons; he has done more than anyone to bring marathon running to the fore at our club. Mr Marathon, Paul Allen, who runs in the 100 marathon club vest completed marathon 147, helping other green and whites along the way. Paul always helps and encourages, a true athlete and a great member, even in that strange vest.

I know how much your efforts are appreciated Paul, so allow me to pass on a massive thank you from everyone! As Fiona said on Facebook

Well done Paul Allen, your latest bunch of marathon virgins well and truly initiated! Just to find some more to break in!’

From Stephanie ‘I think myself, Paul Allen and Bungy Williams all experienced a little bit of hell today, but hey - we got a medal!! Cannot thank them enough for putting up with me crying and moaning for 26 miles. I think Paul was even close to a PB! Well done all in Team Marathon!!! And thanks for the support from everyone else. Great effort.
And it would not be Yeovil Without the CAKES!

Andrew Brown did a PB of 53.30 at Glatonbury,  Louise Ward did a great time of 27.05 in the 5km, her first ever race!

Results on the superb club web site : www.yeoviltownrrc.com

Mark Gosney was at Glastonbury - A nice little medal and a PB for me on today's Glastonbury 10K road race.put in a 44.45 time so well happy with that. And what a great event I must say too, crowds of people lining the finish straight made you put in the extra sprint for the finish line.

Simon did Glastonbury in just under 50 minutes

Lesley has done a recce for the Thursday pub run from the Carpenters Arms (Marathons and Ash Tree runs not enough!!). She says the conditions are good, some road but mostly off-road, very little mud (unless we get rain before then), bit of long grass, few rutted areas, NO cows in fields.

You may see a deer and you will almost certainly see some little ponies and foal which you love to take home with you!!

If anyone else is interested please let Lesley know with your menu choice

(Menu Here) as the pub would like pre-orders.
