As some of you know, I gave up the blog a few months ago and now I have to tell you I have had to make the most difficult decision of my running life... I have moved to Littledown Harriers in Bournemouth as my first claim club. I am retaining 2nd claim with Yeovil.
I have had to make this decision as I am rarely in Yeovil these days, it is a 110 mile round trip for me and I wanted to be in a club championship, attend club nights etc..
I just wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on my years with the greatest Running Club around, say a few thank yous, and sum up the best 5 or so years of my running adventure.
I joined when I contacted Martin Chaffey and ask if an overweight but keen runner could come along and run with the club as I stayed in Castle Cary most weekday evenings
In 2010, the Yeovil half I waddled round, but I made it... the following year I was less of a man!!
I have always been very proud to wear the green and white, there are some very special people at this club and I have made some great friends, friendships that I hope will last beyond my running career! I have achieved my Half Marathon PB at the club, run my first, 2nd and 3rd Marathons and enjoyed the company of some fine runners. Paul Rose, an inspiation to me in how he has battled back from injury to a level I can only dream of, Paul Allen, Mr Marathon, about 160 marathons, Guy for the pasty/Ultra/marathon mix, Pete as he continues to deny he is getting older by delivering great results and Rose, what a year she had in 2012!

And the runners like Georgina as she has started and progressed so far on her running journey and Joanna as she battles back from a bad hip injury.
And those the club rely on, Deb Neal as she takes the beginners group week after week, and Phil, who else, just being the remarkable Phil! To Deb Stanfield, a fantastic club secretary, Malcolm, a true gentleman and a chairman for whom I have great respect.
Good friends Sally and Paul and Cris and Gill, captain Matt, a man who runs with a smile, and Lesley, what a runner, fantastic marathon and ultra times and always helpful and supportive, and the wonderful Mel, great company on club nights and so many more I have not mentioned but have not forgotten.
Most of all I want to thank EVERYONE at the club for the support they have given in the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, (especially Richard) and if they could I know Alfie and Arthur would send their thanks, the battle goes on.

I will always remember challenge 333 and 60k in a day, who could forget the rain and cold as I completed the 333km with loads of members to raise awareness and celebrate 30 years of YTRRC, an amazing turn out, and 60km in a day, a very special event attended by very special people.
