Back to Racing

Malaga Madness

Once again some YTRRC runners made off to Malaga for the 5th Malaga Marathon and I must say it was all about two YTRRC runners that had a fantastic run and achieved great results and did the Club proud. The first has to be Pete Jakeman who not only managed to eat a Pizza with Nutella and cream on the Saturday night and then went on to get 1st Vet with an average pace of around 7:40 for 26.2 miles a truly amazing achievement with 3000 runners, 3 hr 23 mins. Well done Pete, and thanks for the ironing.  Don't forget Pete was also 3rd Vet in Palma. He might move to Spain.

He even sprinted up to the Platform.
The second massive achievement was Tors Bush on her first Marathon with a great time of 4hr 27mins, running on her own but likely enough she does speak fluent Spanish and managed to ask for the portaloo not once but twice. Well done and I believe Tors is now planning her next.

Paul Allan and I ran round with Pete with Jane doing her normal great supporting role during the race and also with the San Miguel at the end. I believe we also won the Photo Bomb award but still waiting for the results.

Weston Christmas Cracker 10k

Weston was the venue for 6 YTRRC Runners in this Seaside Race.  Well done to all that ran and the results can be seen here.

This in from Matthew Warr

"Hi all, just got back from the Weston Christmas Cracker 10k. A brilliantly organised race, set a new PB but missed my target time. Whilst the weather was sunny the wind was brutal, so I'm pleased with my unofficial 42.45. Saw some more green and whites but no sign of official results yet."

Full Monty Cute 2014

YTRRC were out in force at Ham Hill for the Full Monty Cute. The Full Results can be seen here

This in from Pam.

Pam Howes "Well done to everyone....just wondered if there's any mud left on Ham Hill - we appear to have a heck of a lot in the garage....... "

Weekend Club Runs

A miserable turnout for the Saturday morning run, just 5 of us, probably due to the frosty atmosphere and a bit of black ice but nothing too off-putting to stay in bed for, it was a lovely sunny morning.  A newcomer to my club back in Chicago once asked me when telling him about the weekly runs “what do you do about the weather”?  The answer was “if there’s weather we run”.  We were out every Saturday and Sunday morning at 7:00am year round, lows with winter wind-chills of minus 30, and highs in the summer of 35 with 95% humidity. So come on out all for a relaxed 5 or 6 mile jog, we don’t get bad weather here and the Truckers breakfast afterwards is worth every penny.
Sunday was a bit warmer and the turnout was much better at 17 persons plus Paul’s four-legged friend.  Richard and Dave left us at the start to do their own thing so the rest of us headed off from Montacute House to Stoke, Norton and Wigborough.  A couple of girls asked to join us in Stoke, they were keen on the proposed distance, don’t know what we said but they turned off after a couple of miles. We had another guest for about half a mile in Wigborough in the shape of a horny dog that didn’t want to leave us.  Fortunately Tim was able to get it back to its home on one of his extra loops before it molested Paul’s pet or someone’s leg. Last week it was putting bullocks back in a field. We looped back to Norton sub-normal and up the side of Ham Hill to the absent ice-cream man. Only 5 out of 15 managed to run all the way up including Phil, what an example to us youngsters, he earned his cake or three this week. Managed to cheer on a couple of YTRRC runners on crossing the Full Monty track on the way back and finished around  11 miles with a drop of sunshine to keep the tan going, can't afford the bottled stuff.
