Santa Comes to Yeovil

Santa Dash

An excellent turnout today for the Santa Dash, 135 runners and the weather was good as well.  I have added a few photographs but there are loads more here. The Full Results can be seen here and the Team Results here.

Well done to the new Race Director Linda Membury and all the helpers, everyone enjoyed the day and it was great to see all the kids running their hearts out.

After the Race there was loads of Cake and as the last few slices were sold sadly there was a bit of a stampede for them.

Katie Brooks posted

"If you can listen to the local radio station for Sherborne Abbey 104 on Thursday between 5 +6pm, you will hear myself, linda, james and lil man alex are getting interviewed after the santa dash, all with our posh voices of course."

This from the Race Director Linda.

A MASSIVE thank you to all the helpers on this years Santa Dash. The weather stayed dry, we had more entries this year, the event went swimmingly, Everyone seemed to enjoy it and got back in one piece! Give yourselves a massive pack on the back to the most amazing Running Club ever XX

Another Night Out

There was another night out last night in Yeovil with some pre training for the Santa Dash. We met in Wetherspoons and then to Woods Wine Bar (apparently) where the topic of discussion turned to football and what size Balls they should play with. While it was a good night out the 17 mile run the next morning wasn't nice but James, Katie and Jo managed the Santa Dash

Dear clubs and coaches,
The deadline for the SW Cross Country Championships is nearly upon us. Please make sure that athletes in your clubs and groups enter online by Monday 15th December 2015. They can can book their places
HERE. They can also order event hoodies and tees HERE. The Championships are being held at Bicton College, East Budleigh, EX9 7BY.
All entry, course, timetable and pre-event information are on:
Please ensure that you follow us so that you can get all the information updates that may effect you.

Who can enter the South West Championships?

Any athlete who was born or is resident in the south west counties of Avon, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire (see UKA rules on eligibility for county qualification). Athletes from outside of the South West can also take part but will not be eligible for the south west championship element. All athletes must enter individually. County team managers will then select their teams from entries. County team managers should then communicate their selections to us on the spreadsheet HERE

Who can enter additional Races/events?

  • Mob Match - Any club athlete can enter the Mob Match – this is not restricted to SW clubs only.
  • Development Race - Any child aged 8 -10 can enter the Development Race and there will be a medal for each finisher. It's a great way for our younger athletes to be encouraged into cross country and a medal around their necks always helps!
Registration

We very much hope to see lots of athletes from your club and region again at this year's race and once again advance registration is required. All details, directions and the registration forms are available on line at http://www.sw-athletics-academy.co.uk/sw-championships

Dear Club,

I am writing to advise you and your members that the 2015 ARC Championships for the 10-mile distance will be hosted at the Wiltshire 10 Road Race which takes place in Melksham on Sunday 15th February. The certified accurate 10-mile course takes runners along quiet country roads through the heart of rural Wiltshire, around the historic village of Lacock before finishing back alongside the River Avon in the town park.

There will be awards on offer to the leading individual runners and teams. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal of the race, and with the Race HQ being at The Bear public house courtesy of JD Wetherspoon you can stay on to celebrate your athletic endeavour with Sunday lunch for which the venue is offering a discount to competitors.

For more details including course maps, previous results and online entry please visit www.stampedesports.co.uk
