Today the Club has had runners in London, Barcelona, Weymouth, North London, Larmer Tree in Dorset and Kat Hurford ran in the 20 miler in Okehampton in Devon. just shows what a great Club this is and the travelling we do to do the thing we like doing.......eating CAKE.
Larmer Tree Races
White Star Running laid on a great few races this morning with stunning views of Dorset and Wiltshire. There were three races, The Half Marathon, 20 miler and a Full Marathon.
The Full and 20 started at 9.00am with Darren Atyeo, Paul Allen, Jon Crane, Chris Woodman, Lesley Nesbitt and I doing the Full and Catherine and Sharon doing the 20 (as training runs for London). After about 6 miles the 20 milers split off and the Marathon runners did the extra 6 and then we met up again later before the Love Station. From the pictures on Facebook we were expecting a very wet and muddy route for all runners however the dry Saturday seemed to work and it was not that bad but still muddy in places with the odd hill now and then.
The Half started at 10.00am with Simon, Nathan Helen and Lauren taking part, as they were doing a half, the Marathon Runners were hoping to see them at the finish line to cheer us in and take photographs. But no, they were sat in the Hall eating and drinking.
The Love station had all that a runner needs at the 20 mile point, Jelly Babies, soft drinks, Gels and of course Cider and Vodka.
Andy Palmer of White Star Running lays on great races and well run events and was let down by the Medal supplier so we all have to wait for the Boat from China to arrive in Ilchester before we can get them. To make up for this we were all given either a bottle of Beer or a Buff.

North London Half
Simon Eadon and Oliver Robotham ran the first North London and it was started by Mo Farah. Well done you two.
This in from Simon:
A selection from the North London Half Marathon. It was a privilege having the race started by Mo Farah. It was an unremarkable undulating course, (a bit like running round the streets of Yeovil) starting at Allianz Park, home of Saracens Rugby Club going to and through Wembley Stadium and back. Running alongside the Wembley Stadium pitch was special. The pre-paid parking was well worth the money and worked well.
Barcelona Marathon
Well done to John Hayden and Dave Tisley on their trip to Barcelona for the Marathon, I did this at the same time last year a really great Marathon to do. Well done boys now the drinking starts.
