YTRRC Go Western

The Great Western

Well done to Lesley and all those that helped laying out the course on Saturday and helping out on the day. An excellent day at The Great Western and more runners than last year. I managed to get Vet 50 so a nice bottle of Shiraz was in my nice new Blue Bag. We also raised over £270 in sales of Cake, Tea's and Coffee's so well done to Katie for selling them and all those that made cakes. Did I mention I got 1st Vet 50?

Thanks to Dorset Letting the Race Sponsors and their cakes as well.

Thanks to the Sweepers who finally arrived back at Race HQ carrying signs, poles and smiling faces.

Not sure who got the Vet 50 male prize?

Well done to Tim for winning the Mens Race even though in was in Wells Colours.

Ready for the Off

Jo Sweeping

Bless the little Boy can't quite see his Race Number.

All OUR races need the help of Club Members to make sure the event runs well and this was a success due to this.

From Lesley (RD):

On the blog please mention my thanks to everyone who helped yesterday and today to make it happen and run so smoothly. Also thanks to YTRRC and Dorset Lettings who provided cakes which went down a treat and made an amazing £270 in donations for Rotary Club local charities. I think most runners enjoyed the tough, muddy course, even though Helen (and I believe Fez) said after they finished that they were never going to run another off road race!

Full results can be seen here.

Yeovil Marathon

On Saturday Morning Bryn, Pete and I went to help measure the Marathon Course with Bill Hicks (Official Measurer) to give the course the Official measurement of 26 Miles and 365 Yards. It sounds an easy job but it took from 08:30 to 13:30 with two bikes and a car. Each mile is measured and then a photograph taken and a note by Bill. Doing this for 26 miles takes a long time and it was very hard sat in Pete's car in front of the Bikes.

Luckily  Pete had some bars of Chocolate in the Car, the bad news was the sell buy date of 2011, still tasted Ok to me.

Bryn and Bill at mile 24 or was it11.

Yeovil Town Football Club

With reference to the recent report in the Western Gazette concerning Yeovil Town Football Club Hygiene Certificate.

This incident  relating to a lowering of their rating happened in November 2014, post an international event held at the Football Club, it had nothing to do with the quality of food being prepared or for that matter being served.  At the time of the inspection the kitchen and function rooms were closed.  The inspector returned a few days later and no issues were reported.  Yeovil Town Football Club have continued to serve food.

The Football Club expects to be inspected shortly and are fully confident in having their 5 star food rating reinstated.

Ham Hill to Lyme

The new event is happening on the 11th July starting at Ham Hill and then a short run to Lyme. The webpage can be found here. How many of the Club intend to enter this? We our just thinking that if there is enough interest we could hire a minibus from YTFC to Ham Hill and then from Lyme back to YTFC after an Ice Cream and a spot of Lunch/Tea at Lyme.
