The Easter Bunny 2015
The Easter Bunny was a great success again this year, great weather, great support and great helpers. As per normal these events do not happen without the work of the Race Director, Nick Brooks and of course Pete Jakeman and Phil MacQuaid. Also a well done to all the new YTRRC runners running in Club Colours for the first time.
The day started early for some, well the day before with getting the Trailer in place and weeks before Pete running the route for the risk assessment. Slowly the tables, finish line and the Clubs new Flags were placed out.
Soon more helpers arrived and the Marshalls were briefed by Simon and the Race numbers were sorted out ready for the Runners to arrive.
The Car Park was getting full but did have enough places for all the cars and soon it was nearly race time. First off were the kids and the Fun Run, Adam and his team did a great job sorting out the course and race numbers.
Some managed to get lost on the way to the start and got a few extra miles in by going to the 5k start, they seem to have missed the signs.....
The 10k race was now ready and waiting for Pete to give the final safety brief and then send the wheelchair entry off. 2 minutes later was the rest of the runners, the weather was warming up and we hit the road from the narrow start, the support was great as we passed the Museum and to the crossroads.
To complete the 10k you had to eat a Cream Egg in one go while giving your time and pace, this I managed.
Well done to the first YTRRC Male over the line Lewis Bacon and first Female for the Club was Nikki Guiver, the full results can be found here.
Some of the winners pictures.
A big thank you to all the helpers that make this event an outstanding success and the encouragement given by the marshalls as we ran by. Now for the 5k series..........
