The Invader
White Star Running had another event in Dorset "The Dorset Invader", with a Half and Full Marathon on the Saturday and kind of Fun Run on the Sunday with Camping all weekend for those that wanted to.
Saturday started with the Marathon at 9:00am on a lovely sunny day near Blandford and for those who managed to get out of their tent and stagger to the Car Park to meet those driving on the day a Club Photograph was taken.
The theme for the Race was Roman as it was once the Start Line for the Roman attack on Maiden Castle back in the days when Phil was a young boy. To that end some ran in Roman Gear and the Race nearly got started by a Roman on a Horse.
It was an undulating course but not the normal very hilly ones associated with WSR and took you out towards Tolpuddle and Bere Regis before heading back towards the Start. There is now a theme to get your picture taken whilst doing something stupid and there may also be a video out soon.
As the Marathon was well on the way the Half was started and all the YTRRC Half Marathon runners did well and got to the finish before the Marathon runners finished.
Anita finishing the Half in Toga |
Nice running Girls and nice bling |
The Dancing Trio |
The Finish Line |
Soon all runners were through the Finish Line and enjoying their Dorset Jam and the best Medals I have seen so far for both races.
Sat night Party |
Today saw the Fun Run, this was a strange run where you had to run to a pile of running shoes and find yours then run up a hill to find an object and bring it back with a total stranger or something like that. Those that camped all took part and had a good laugh by the photographs.
Nice goody bag |
All in all a great weekend was had by all, the full results should be out later this week and well done to all for some great running and for some a new Blue BMW was waiting.
Ribbon Run
Today saw the first of the Ribbon Run 10k with a Fun Run as well. The event is organised by Chris Wadey of Chard Running Club and the race entry was split between two Cancer Charities. I am not sure of the results or how many YTRRC entered but Claire Barnes did and seemed to enjoy the hill at the end.

Can you let Lynne know if you are eating on the Pub Run so she can let the Pub know how many to expect. Thanks
Dave Richardson
On Friday some of the Club went to see Dave off, while it was a sad occasion the pictures of Dave throughout the years running in the Green and Whites were good to see. He was very proud to be part of the Club and although he might not have been at many Club events recently he has been a member for some 20 years.
This was posted by his Sister:
Thank you Yeovil Town Champions for supporting our family yesterday at my brother Dave Richardson's funeral. He would have loved it that you wore your team kits and were there to celebrate his full and happy life. Thank you to those of you who took the chance to say hello and introduce yourself and tell me your stories of Dave's track antics
