Te Last Few Races till Awards Night

The Stickler

Well the day came when I had to do a 10 mile to get an award that not even an Olympic Gold medalist get, the YTRRC Hat. So off I went to Dorset for the Stickler along with a host of other Green and Whites as it was also a Club Championship Race and them last points might count.

As I got to the Car Park Marathon Mike pulled up in his car and had a nice chat with the Car Park attendant......lucky he did as the same bloke showed us how to cross a road at Race HQ.

The Race itself starts in a Field and then along a road and then up a slight incline then flat, down and another slight incline.

It is a great Race and a hard 10 miles and the down is sometimes harder than the ups. Thanks to Jane Allen AKA the Club Phot and Paul Allen, it was a surprise to see them on top of the last hill.

Robbie Hawkins was first YTRRC male and Judith Wilson was our first lady, well done to both of you.

Well done to all that completed it and the well deserved T-Shirt. Results can be seen here.

First YTRRC Runner to cross the line

Gary Stickley was just to fast for the Club Phot....

  From Matt Driver:

The Stickler 10 miles and even though I couldn't catch Robbie Hawkins (next time Robbie, please run with Adam Hawkins), I was dead pleased with a course pb ... I know, at my age too!
Good to see Terry Byrne there, Richard Dodge of course was there, but weirdly there was Bungy Williams trying out actual racing rather than slogging out the miles - these club hats get everyone doing stuff they wouldn't normally do! Great stuff.
Well done too for the YTRRC girls Joanna Henley and Debbie Keeble chasing those championship points and Katie Brooks milking the applause!
A shame Richard Blackmore is not on form at the moment, I'm sure recovery is just down the road. I hope I'm right with the name, Steve Small also ran well despite struggling with the shin splints. Nice to see Judith Wilson too on a rare outing this way. (and Marathon Mike)
Lastly, to have a race nearly named after you is something of an honour, so hard luck on not quite catching me Gary Stickley smile emoticon

Shepton Mallet 10k

Trev Stelley went to Shepton for the 10k, well done Trev nice running.

Parkrun 100

Saturday saw the 100 run of the Montacute Parkrun and there was an excellent turn out both for the event and also from the Club. Some of us ran from YTFC annoying anyone we saw, I say we I mean just one lady who had had a few the night before.

It was a wet run backwards to the normal route and some say a better route. Well done to all that turned up, it was a great run and well worth the visit to the Lynx Cafe.

Friday Night saw he Club Ten-Pin Bowling organised by our Social Rep Katie, I couldn't make it but from what I have seen and heard it was another great night. A big thanks you to Katie and the Christmas Quiz is next hopefully.

Dartmoor Vale

The way to run a marathon, Saturday Morning go to Lynx Cafe and have a Trucker's Breakfast then get up Sunday go down to Dartmoor and get first in Age Group. Simple.

Well done Lauren Price.

Herepath Half Marathon

Well done to Georgina Brice, Sean Gaffney and Mark Gosney on the Herepath Half. Full results can be seen here. There were also two other YTRRC runners Taryn Monks and Lyndsay Wasiewicz.

Sean was really happy with the Mug...
A very enjoyable 13.7 miles this morning, once the hangover had sweated itself out, at the Herepath half. Plenty of ups with a few downs, fantastic scenery and bit if mud thrown in to the mix. Many thanks to Georgina for pacing me round and putting up with me. And as useful as the this mug is...IT'S NOT A MEDAL!

"Herepath Half Marathon Done in 2:55 challenging, hilly and very muddy run in the blackdowns and nice views from the top :-))"

Ran a faultless Herepath Half this morning, over a very demanding 13.7 mile off road route.first 6 miles were climbing, making the second half very enjoyable on the way back down to the finish.crossed the line in 1:47:55 in which I'm very pleased with.  Mark Gosney

  1. Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
