A Great Weekend

What a Club

This weekend saw the Club Running along the Thames, in Milton Keynes running marathons, Manchester running Half with obstacles and in Devon running through Mud. I have probably missed a few as well and does not include The Monty Route in Somerset.

Well done to all the Club for a great Championship year and lets wait till Fri the 27th to see the results.

Manchester Half Marathon Obstacle Race

Sean Gaffney went to Manchester for the above event and posted:

Went to Manchester on Saturday to run the Men's health obstacle half marathon, a tough event running over a mountain bike course, swimming in the river Medock and across canals, and made all the more with Manchesters liquid sunshine soaking all the obstacles.

Enigma Fireworks Double Marathon

Paul Allen and I went back up to Milton Keynes for the above event this weekend and on the Saturday Race Paul came in second and I was third and on the Sunday Paul was third and I was fifth. The Sunday Race saw me do my 75th marathon and a great achievement for Paul who clocked up an amazing 200 marathons. Thanks also to Jane for the beer at the end of day two and the support over the weekend.

Day One done

Day Two Finished

Paul gets his 200 badge from the Fox

Yarcombe Yomp   "Yarcombe Swamp oh i mean Yomp"

The last Championship points were to be had at the Yarcombe Yomp and Katie posted a few pictures, just have to wait now to see who has all the points. Well done to Mike Harvey as first male for the Club in the 10 miler.

Katie and Debbie did the 5 miler and Debbie was first lady over the line for the Club. The full results for both races can be found here.

Well done to all runners, Saturday was a wet and muddy one.

A few pics from the yarcombe yomp, very wet and muddy. The homemade soup made up for the lack of bling at the finish. Worth every bump, bruise and cut.

What no Stellar?

Thames Meander

The Thames Meander Marathon and Half Marathon is in Kensington and the Club has sent a few runners there for two years. It's a great Race and I hope we do the same next year. Thanks to Jo for getting this years off the ground and the report below is from Lesley.

A really good day at the Thames Meander marathon today, despite the weather! I was certainly glad to finish tho, the last 10 miles were a real struggle, but no more marathons until March so can have a month or two off long running! A very well done to Helen, a brilliant run and yet another PB. Also really good PBs from Joanna Henley and Paul Walford, and brilliant running from other YTRRC - Jessica Purdy (sorry don't know if yours was a PB), Lynne and Andrew Brown. Also well done to Elizabeth Diamond on the half marathon. Results - http://www.swifttiming.co.uk/cgi-bin/list_race_result.php… and half - http://www.swifttiming.co.uk/cgi-bin/list_race_result.php…

Team Yeovil

Well done Helen :)

All done, very hard going and very muddy. But look at that big old medalLook at this for bling, it's huge and is gonna look great on my bling rack. From Liz who did well in the Half.

You have to do this, its part of the Race
Well done all of you great running

This is what Jessica Purdy had to say:

That was the most ridiculous thing we've ever done 😂winds of up to 35mph, torrential rain, and a very muddy & wet course. Marc went in injured and had to hobble from mile 18. I fell over at mile 22 (can't believe it didn't happen sooner with the course conditions and my clumsiness 😝) and hurt my knee and ankle and grazed my hands. But we finished. And (apart from when I was sat in a muddy puddle trying not to cry 😁after I fell over) I didn't bloody stop. I beat my#ParisMarathon time by about 10 mins. Thanks
