Wessex Cross Country League
The full photographs can be seen here. Some of the comments from all ages at the end were: "Christ that was hard", a parent to a young girl "Great run, you will never do a harder course again in your age group". It really was a great day and a very big well done to the Club. Now lets have a few on Friday night .......Well deserved.
A Lone Green and White on Tour
This in from over the pond from Marathon Mike:
Just back from running the marathon in
Charlotte, NC. Weather should have been perfect for me at this time of year,
usually around 10-15 degrees, however started the day by scraping ice off the
car, a cold snap had moved in just for the weekend, was –1 at the start, about
5 at the end, but sunny and no wind, so quite ok. Race started and finished in
the middle of the city, meandered through the main city center streets taking
in all the local attractions, football stadium, baseball stadium, po-lice
station, berss (bus) station, and the ubiquitous McDonald's, Burger King, Pizza
Hut etc etc. Seriously though it is a nice clean city with pretty parks, lots
of interesting bars and restaurants, and for southern race fans it is the
NASCAR capital of the world.
The route then went on 2 separate loops of 13
miles each into different parts of the suburbs and back. They had been careful
to pick the right streets as we didn’t pass any shops with barred windows, or
happen upon anyone sleeping on the sidewalks or drinking out of brown paper
bags. Course was HILLY, not big ones, but continuous steep up and downs for
about 20 miles of it, so quads are still trashed today and taking stairs one at
a time. Great support from the crowds, lots of ZZ-Top look-alikes and Beverly Hillbillies,
some locals had erected a big wooden wall at 18 miles with suitable comments
and an archway to run through.
Many live bands en-route and country music
disco’s, free beer and wine at the end (well for the half marathoners, it was
all gone when we got in, but did get to sample some genuine local moonshine
from a friend’s grand pappy later!). 1st Yeovil man home and 4th in age group.
Finishers medal could have been a bit bigger I suppose, although they should
have given a neck brace with this one, its more than half a pound of steel and
could be excess baggage on the plane.
Hill Reps
Some of the Comments:

Chilly 10k
This in from Liz Diamond:
Chilly 10km done, I wanted to break the hour but I didn't quite make it my unofficial time was 1:01.15. An nice race on the race circuit with good refreshments and treats at the end with a nice medal for the bling rack.
Health Survival of the Fittest
This in from Sean:
Final Men's Health survival of the fittest completed in Wembley. 10k and the afternoon and a cheeky little 5k at night. Low temperatures and driving winds made for a chilly run ( good job they didn't cover us in water several times or have a km wade through the Brent river..... that would of just made it miserable) ... many thanks to rat race for the two complimentary season passes for next year, so Fiona Gaffney and I can do it all again)
Our Local Parkrun
The Club had a good turn out at Montacute on Saturday and this came in from Lesley:
Well done YTRRC at Montacute Park Run this morning - 2 in the 1st 4 finishers - Leyt Green came in 2nd and Simon Ian Carney came in 4th!Matthew Driver, a First Timer, was 3rd YTRRC over the line.
Weymouth Parkrun
We had a few Green and Whites that headed down to Weymouth for the Parkrun.
Well that was a very cold and windy Weymouth Parkrun. Nice course, where next ?? Katie said.

Update on the Facebook new Group: It is now being used as the main Group page and we are slowly getting there adding everyone. We are not letting people join who are not members of the Club but are letting those that help, support and for information to help the Club. The Committee will discus this at the next meeting. Thanks to Chris Woodham who is slowly copying the Albums that he has from the old group to the new group. There are 66 Albums in the old group that we might lose so if you own them you have the choice to upload to the new group. The old group might be closed down by the end of the year. Can you now please stop posting on the Old Group Page. Thanks
