This race was also a Club Championship race but no results are in as their website does not work. I know the club had a few runners there. Luke Hicks was the first YTRRC runner over the line.

Once again the Dark Nights ran on Saturday Night. The results can be seen here.
This in from Katie:
Well done Darren on his age winner in the 10k and a very shocked winner Anita on 3rd lady back on this 5k.
The Wessex Ridgeway Relay Race
The Wessex Ridgeway Relay race, this event is very popular and fantastic fun,
please let Rob Jones know if you’re interested – soon!
On 22nd May the club is entering two (or more) teams in the Wessex Ridgeway
Relay race
that is organized by the Gillingham Trotters Running Club. The course uses
approximately
60 miles of the stunning 138 mile trail, running from Marlborough in Wiltshire to
Lyme Regis
on the Dorset coastline; the relay race itself starts from Tollard Royal in Dorset finishing in
Uplyme (near Lyme Regis). The race is split into 12 stages ranging in length from 3 to 9
miles, each team uses a minibus to progress from start to finish via the handover
points. The route uses some of the most exposed terrain in Dorset and the
competitors are expected to navigate the course without assistance from
marshals. The route is waymarked, and route descriptions and maps will be
provided. It is strongly recommended, however, that all runners perform a
reconnaissance of their stages before the event; this is best done
with fellow club members by having a car parked at both ends of your stage/s.
401 Challenge
Hi Guy,
Hope
you are well. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back, but the Challenge has
really taken of and has been keeping me busy!
First
of all please can I say a massive thank you to you and the Yeovil Town Running
Club for organising and hosting the 401 Challenge when I ran my marathon
in Yeovil on 2 Oct 15. Your help with the route was invaluable and I would
not be able to continue this challenge without the support from running clubs
such as yourselves. Thank you to everyone that came out and ran with me, it
kept me going massively and really motivated me to keep my spirits high.
Whenever I run one of the marathons I encourage people to join their local
running club, which I hope is a mutually beneficial arrangement. Some
running clubs find a run with ‘The 401 Challenge’ a way for their marathon
hopefuls to test out their endurance for long distance without the stress of
racing – over
100 people have run the marathon distance for the first time with ‘The 401
Challenge’ and
over 350 people have achieved a personal best.
During
the course of the marathons fellow runners have asked how to get involved and
support the challenge to successfully raise awareness of anti-bullying and
generate donations for Kidscape and Stonewall. Previously running clubs
have contributed to the challenge through donations, hosting fundraising
events, buying/selling wristbands and t-shirts, joining the Etchrock challenge
and promoting ‘The 401 challenge’ on
Facebook, LinkedIn and/or Twitter.
I
am hugely grateful for this support and would be very appreciative if you could
remind you’re running club members of the ways in which they can
support ‘The 401 Challenge’. Since my run with you a lot has been
happening, I am now into the mid 100’s
and still going strong thankfully, the support for
‘The 401 Challenge’ is
growing everyday and I am so overwhelmed by the messages of support
both me and team get on a daily basis.
Etchrock ‘401 Run
with Ben’ Virtual Challenge
We
have setup a virtual challenge with one of our sponsors, I have
put the link below for you to have a look. Basically we are
tasking the UK to run 401,000 miles and already have over 200 people
signed up to the challenge. It is completely free and it allows
everyone to get involved by logging any mileage they do at home,
on the road and as part
of the challenge. The great thing
about the challenge is that it is open to everyone, from clubs to
schools to businesses. All people have to do is create a profile and start
logging, why not affiliate each of your runners to your club and then see where
you fair in relation to other clubs around the country? Visit www.etchrock.com/401 to
sign up now and find out more.
The Official 401 Shop
We
have launched a range of T-shirts for both men and women along with a line for
kids to help us raise funds for operational costs of the project. We
have provided an array of colours to suit all tastes, included female fit and
long sleeve technical t-shirts as well. If you or any of your members or
friends would like to buy one please visit shop.the401challenge.co.uk.
We have sold just over 200 units already and they are popping up all
over the place in runs throughout the country, it’s
been great to see the pictures that come through
to the 401 Facebook page. We did this because of the
feedback received by the 3000+ members I have run
with, the words on the T-shirts are words used to
describe the 401 Challenge by its Facebook following.
Facebook and Twitter
Our
social media presence is growing everyday with new people learning
about the challenge and following the project, if any of
your members want to do this they can find us on Facebook
at The 401 Challenge or on Twitter at @the401challenge.
Donations:
Currently
we have just raised over £36,000 (inc Gift Aid) for ‘Stonewall’ and ‘Kidscape’.
If any of your members would like to donate the link is as follows,
every penny is greatly appreciated
Thank
you so much for the great day, I enjoyed spending time with you all
and hope to see you sometime in the future, maybe even at my last
marathon on Wednesday 5th October, big plans coming soon, we’ll
let you know about these once everything has been confirmed. If there is
anything ‘The 401 Challenge’ team
can do to help you and your club in its efforts, whether that is coming up with
ideas or providing information, please do let us know.
Many
thanks,
Ben
