Its Cross Country Week No 1

Hi All

Today was the 1st meeting of the Wessex Cross Country League at Poole, the Green and Whites were represented by Jill and Sadie for the ladies

Jill and Sadie after finishing well for the ladies, great cakes from Sadie as well!

Jill came in about 3rd in the ladies, a great performance against the seniors.

The men were well represented by six, leading them home was Tim, with a great performance, 1st across the line, but as usual in XC, there were some routing 'issues' so we await confirmation.

Tim Leading the way in the superb head gear
Following Tim was Lee chasing hard

Lee, in hot pursuit, a super performance

There followed a battle between Matt and The Chairman, Nick. Thanks to another slight routing issue, Matt pulled ahead and held on..

Looking good a week after the New Forest
Pushing hard following a tough XC on Saturday, superb as always
Followed home by Terry and Nigel

Results not yet available, but could be there or thereabouts for the Mens Team Prize, well done Tim, Lee, Matt and Nick, supported by Terry and Nigel.

Ladies, be there next time, four needed for the team prizes. See the web site for details, but the next fixture is run by Yeovil, so be there, 21st October at Ham Hill.

Lesley and others did the Mells Scenic 7, Lesley sent this in, well done Mark and everyone else. Never too late for the Blog...

Too late for blog but good day for Yeovil at Mells Scenic 7 today. Mark Wills 1st man home, Rose 2nd, FV35 me 2nd FV55, YTRRC 1st team (Mark, Leyton, Rod and Rose -enjoy the Ale!). Other Yeovil runners Simon Rowbottom, Adam and Corinne Hawkins. Good hilly course. Well done all. Well done also to XC runners and Boscombe runners.

Bristol Half,

What a day for Green and Whites, Kat went to the Bristol Half and got a PB... Would be even better if she could get up, she sent me this...

Really pleased with getting another half marathon PB, 1.53.08 - was really pushing for 1.50 but it's better than my last one at 1.56. It must be to do with the fact that I was getting out of bed at the time I should of been leaving, the alarm failed to go off!!

A 10k at Boscombe

Tony Watts and Jon Rowe ran a charity 10km at Boscombe today, I had this in from Tony

Jon Rowe and I did  a 10k at Boscombe today Jon won it in 39.03 I came 2nd in 42.27 which was a pb for me by 2mins and 16 secs!! We both got a trophy and had our photos taken which will be put on the Dorset Blind Association website!! We raised money for the charity so that was good. it was very windy down there and the blustery conditions didn't help because we had to run 4 x 2.5k along the sea front!! anyway it was still a good day for the 'green and whites'!!

Nice one you two, and for a great cause!!

I have had this from Martin, please help if you can!!

I am putting together the Christmas Photos for the Club meal - I've pinched off the good ones from the Club Picasa site, but if anyone has any photos they wish to be included, please send them to me - on martinchaffey@hotmail.co.uk or text to 07929 054576.

(if you're doing a piece about the Parrett Trail Relay, I can offer my services as recce assistant next weekend - I have run or raced all 6 Legs).

There may be a hash on Sunday 14th October (ie the day after Parrett), depending on interest - people can let me know on the same details above if they fancy coming along that day, and I'll sort something out; also looking at a Hallowe'en Hash on Sunday 28th October. Details to follow.

We could do with setting some hash dates for the next three months - any volunteers?

I am not involved in the Parrett Trail this year but would be willing to lay a hash the day after (so Sunday 14th) - assuming people might prefer a gentle trot after racing rather than another long run perhaps, but let me know.

If you fancy laying one another time in October, do say!

My birthday this year happens to be on Wednesday 12/12/12 - given the symmetry of the date, I think we ought to do something and am happy to organise, but depends on how many people are about on the Wednesday!!

Martin
