Its the WEEKEND!!

Hi Everyone - Now with Twitter - See Right. Thanks to Nigel for his Technical Input!

Lee has provided the latest Championship results, a few new entries and a bit of movement as the season moves into its last phase. Its all on the web site and via the link below.

Latest club Championship Positions

Great Club run on Tuesday which saw me complete the running part of 54321, but most importantly, well done to Kimberley who finished her challenge to run the equivalent of running from London to Brighton during August. Nice one Kimberley and great respect. True determination and self discipline needed and found aplenty, well done!

COMMITTEE MEETING WEDNESDAY - SEE WEB SITE FOR DETAILS - LINK AT BOTTOM OF THIS POST

The Ash 5 and 8 were today, I have heard from several members and all say what a great job Adam did, as usual. I believe the ladies won the ladies team prize, well done Kat for her first ever prize (I have never won one, not that I am envious!!!) and the men won the Mens Team prize.

Jon Crane was 5th in the Fearsome 5 in around 36 mins. The Ladies Team in the main race was Rose Harvey, Lesley nesbitt, Jane Mill and Kat Jones, the Mens Team was Tim Hawkins, Mark Wills, Rod Appleby and Derek Shead. Rose was 4th Lady and 1st Vet, Lesley was 1st Vet 60, Tim Hawkins was 2nd Vet.

I am told it was a very wet, very muddy fab Ash 8. Well done everyone!

This has come in from Richard Boulter - Great time Richard

With apologies to Adam for not running at Ash today, I went looking for a longer (& flatter) run at the Bridgwater Half. With a late decision to run & no specific preparation was pleased to finish in 1:30:14 (Garmin time).
The route was mostly flat & on a day like today with light winds made for a fast course. This was a new race and though the race itself went well, there were a few teething problems, a lack of any available results being one of them. The finish was automated using a camera to record finishers with not even any officials in sight, though there were a fair number of spectators. A decent enough goody bag made for a good mornings run.
There was 1 other Yeovil runner present but unfortunately do not know his name.

The Parratt Trail - A copy of Matts E Mail in case you missed it!

If you are listed below you are in the Parrett Trail!
Congratulations.

Please contact your team leader who generally is the first named person in the following groups, ie. either Phil MaCQuaid, Lesley Nesbitt or Mel Dodge, Kat Jones, Fast Men will actually be Tim Hawkins, other men is Matt Driver (me), Richard Dodge, and lastly Matt Driver (me) again.

If the team isn't what you wanted, there are some changes that can be made, but you'll need to arrange the swap and LET ME KNOW (I'm also the Club representative as far as the race is concerned and therefore have to let the organisers know).

Please speak to the team leader in order to arrange what leg you are running.
We will try to arrange recconoitres (reccy's) of the routes in the next few weeks, so if you are thinking of checking your route, let us know so that others can join in.

We have Malcolm as first reserve who is injured...so only one male is allowed to drop out so far if necessary!! Please do everything possible to make sure you can represent YTRRC and not let the rest of the team down. Many thanks.
Matt

Melksham 10

From our friends at Melksham

Dear Running Club, this is a reminder that the Melksham 10 mile road race is coming up on Sunday 16th September starting at 10:00 from King George V Playing Fields in Melksham, Wiltshire. The course is certified for accuracy by the AUKCM and will benefit from precision chip timing courtesy of DB Max.

The course is also very scenic as it winds through the West Wiltshire countryside and takes runners through the historic village of Lacock before finishing alongside the river Avon back in Melksham. The course holds the potential for fast times, boasting course records of 52:35 for Men and 60:15 for Ladies.

This year the event is race #9 of the inaugural Wiltshire Race League and is also hosting the Wiltshire county road running championships for the distance.

Entries are open online through the Runners World website, with prizes being awarded to the winners of the V40, V50 & V60 age categories. There are also prizes up for grabs for the first teams of 4-runners from the same club, and points to be earned in the Wiltshire Race League too. Entries will be available on the day up to 09:30 subject to the race limit being reached.
