Christmas is gone.. Now it gets serious (Sort of)

Today the Marathon/Half Marathon Build up began ... Long runs at various pace levels with Paul, Jane, Debs, Phil etc... it was the biggest Sunday attendance ever with 35 Green and Whites turning up.

Now a question: Were these extra runners because it was from the Station Cafe and a 'Full Monty' breakfast was available or was it because they were preparing for a big event in the Spring....Hmmmm???

The response has been fantastic, everybody positive, satisfied and pleased with their performance, see the previous post for coming Sundays, I may even come over from Christchurch for one of these runs. Great leading from Paul and Jane, superb motivation and support, as always, from Deb and, from what I hear, a pretty good breakfast from the Station Cafe. Back to Montecute next week.

The build up to the Spring Marathons is building, Leslie had a 40 mile week, Julie has her training bang on target, Sally is building nicely, Debs is building for yet another Ultra and I am starting to rack up the miles. Paul, with 125 marathons under his belt, is available to give advice as you need, look out for the Sunday and Tuesday options. Paul will be posting training tips... todays is...
 "Rest is training too".

To all those who have or are training hard over the last few days, you have earned a rest day tomorrow. Not only does this allow your damaged muscles to repair stronger, it also gives you a mental break. Feet up and recover (or some light cross training if you wish) for the next training week.
Some of the comments about today...

Thanks Paul and Jane for organising the run today, it's nice to have a change of venue once in a while and what a turn-out... I heard that the cafe don't have to open all year now as they got their anual takings in one hit :-)
Thank you for a lovely if slightly tricky first post Christmas run. X
Thanks Elizabeth Diamond for the chocolate this morning and Debbie Neal for keeping me going when I felt faint at the 6 mile mark. What a wimp hey!!! 1st time that's happened. Just as well I didn't opt for the 10!!
I'll add my thanks to everyone else's! It was a really positive first Sunday run and I'll be back for more

I have a pair of Asics GT 2160 running shoes that I've worn only once. Was advised to have a half size larger than normal but it didn't work. UK size 9.5 (euro 44.5).

Current price of next generation model 2170 is £99.99, discounted to £69.99 on sportsshoes.com.

£20 to the trailer replacement fund secures

On Saturday Sally led a 5 mile run and then everyone was back to the football club to transfer all the equipment to Nigel's house for cleaning and storing, everyone worked hard, and judging by the pictures, the Foreman, Tim Hawkins had a cup of tea and everything else under control!!

 Keep them at it Tim!

 As Matt said

Many thanks to all who turned up, there was plenty of us and we were all done by 2pm. Great thanks to Nigel & Teresa for tea, coffee and hot dogs! Apologies to those who couldn't make it due to the lack of notice, it had been in the blog and earlier on facebook. The good outcome of this fire is that it has brought the club closer together, thanks all.

And from Sally
