Important update

A few things you should know about from the committee meeting tonight..

The Trailer damage and toilet destruction :- The estimated cost to replace the items destroyed by the break in at the football ground compound is estimated at just under £3,000 pounds.. These items will be replaced out of club funds with an undertaking that the club will do all they can to replenish those funds by the end of 2013.

THE DAMAGED TRAILER NEEDS TO BE EMPTIED, THE EQUIPMENT CLEANED AND THEN MOVED TO NIGEL'S HOUSE UNTIL THE TRAILER CAN BE REPLACED. WE NEED HELP, IF YOU CAN PLEASE BE AT THE FOOTBALL CLUB AT 12:00 MID-DAY ON SATURDAY, THE INCA TRAIL RACE IS NOT FAR OFF, WE NEED TO GET THIS DONE BEFORE MORE EQUIPMENT IS LOST.

Extraordinary General Meeting

A proposal was put forward tonight, seconded and receiving the necessary signatures requesting an EGM to discuss, agree or turn down the following proposal:

The Club Subscription for 2013/14 will be increased by £5 to include the increase in the cost for each individual member for affiliation to English Athletics (From the current £5 to £10), this increase has been advised to the Club by EA and has to be paid as the club is affiliated to England Athletics. In addition the Club subscription, which has not been changed for many years, will be raised by a further £5. In 2013/14 this will be used towards the costs of the replacement trailer lost in the recent Arson Attack, in future years it will be added to club funds to cover ever increasing costs. The total annual subscription from 2013 will be £25 (£30 for new members including a club vest).

This proposal, a single vote to increase the subscription to £25 (£30 new members) as detailed above, will be put to the EGM for approval. The EGM will be held on Wednesday 6th March at the Forum Cafe, Abbey Manor Park, Yeovil at 6:30 pm and will be before the monthly committee meeting.

I hope you agree that £25 a year, including £10 affiliation fees, is still very good value to belong to THE running club!

It should be noted that additional fund raising will be required, if you have any ideas please come to a committee meeting or let a committee member know and they will raise it at the next meeting.

IF ANY ONE KNOWS OF A COMPANY WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SPONSORING THE TRAILER AND HAVE THEIR LOGO ON THE SIDE please let me know on tbyrne@crownpetfoods.co.uk. This will be seen around Yeovil throughout the year. Sponsorship starts at £500, and for exclusive trailer sponsorship the cost will be around £2,000 (Three years) excluding sign writing. Be seen around Yeovil, get a trail on the trailer.

There will be some new ideas coming to the fore over the coming months to cater for every level of runner, from beginner to elite. We have great members at our club and some very strong and potentially very strong and competitive runners. Watch this space for training options, social runs, tempo runs, fun runs, serious runs and competitive runs. More information coming soon, watch the blog!

From Sally...If anyone is interested and training for the yeovil half marathon i am doing an extra run on Saturday about 5 miles from the foot ball club leaving at 10.45am, then back to help sort the trailer out with Phil at 12pm all help will be welcome (many hands make light work).

And from Debbie ..The sociable Sunday run gets serious. (but don't panic - there'll still be tea and cakes after). After this Sunday its only 8 weeks till the Bath half, 11 weeks till Yeovil half, 15 weeks till London and 17 weeks till North Dorset villages marathon. Time to start putting the miles in. We will still have shorter and longer options starting at 9am but gradually increasing in distance up to 20 miles or so for the long option. The routes will be planned so people of similar pace can run together.

I will continue to do my early start at 8.30am to add an extra 3 mile loop for those needing to get extra miles or wanting to finish earlier. Unless we have a serious drought all routes over the next few weeks will be road only.

Details of distances will go on the blog and facebook in advance.

Coming Soon on The Blog, including news of great success for the club at the Chard Flyer, my run at the Sommerley House 10km, Marathon Plans and related Sunday runs with Mr Marathon, Paul and news on the club championship as 2013 kicks off in style!

Beginners info - You hear runners talking runner speak and you wonder what it means? Let me know and I will get you an answer. Don't be in the dark...

Tonight - What is a tempo run? A tempo run is a continuous run over an agreed distance at a set average pace, so a 6 mile tempo run at 10 mins is a 6 mile non stop run at an average pace of 10 minute miles, so it will take about an hour, simple, and now you know!

More soon

All the best,

Terry
