Christmas Week in the Mud

Lynne goes back to the Thames

Well done to Lynne on her second run along the Thames this year. Looks like the weather held out as well. Good work when's the next one or is it two?

Got round eventually! Very slow, very icy, very cold, extremely friendly race directors and runners! Great event! It was so cold I had 7 food stops( guy Williams take note) as so cold but as I was being told tales of how YTRRC members in Malaga lead the race director astray!!! No wonder my time was rubbish!! More learning taken on board about marathons!!!

Monday 29th Christmas Walk

Don't forget the Club walk tomorrow, Katie has treats for the Kids and also for the Children.

Don't forget the Club Christmas walk on Monday 29th December, meeting at mine, 1pm, 13 Magna Close, Yeovil BA21 5RS. Lovely 5 ish mile route, some fields, tracks, lanes and stiles with plenty of company. Bauble treasure hunt for the little people, goody bag and certificate at the end along with mince pies and mulled wine for us oldies, doggie treats for the 4 legged kind. Dont worry about making your mind up till the last minute, just turn up. And i'm sure to put some reminders on here in the up and coming days  Hope to see you there.

Stoke St Gregory 10k

Well done to all the YTRRC runners the raced at Stoke St Gregory.

This in from Lesley:

Lovely sunny but cold 10k at Stoke St Gregory this morning. Well done to YTRRC's Dave Stanfield, Jon CraneJoanne CraneNigel Moysey, Theresa Moysey, and me. Particularly well done to Jo Crane for her PB, getting well withn her sub hour target and Jon Crane for equalling or beating his PB - just waiting for his official time!

Pete and I go North Sunrise to Sunset.

Boxing day saw Pete Jakeman and I head north to Telford for a Marathon the next day. Paul Allen never made it due to the bug that is doing the rounds. We left in the drizzle and made the midlands as the Snow began to fall but made it to the Hotel.

Luckily the next Morning the snow stopped and we had a clear run to the Race HQ. Once there we registered and then waited for the off.

The route was from Race HQ and 32 laps round a loop with two inclines and two declines but the inclines seemed longer. The plan was to start running when the Sun went up (8:20 am) and finished when the Sun went down (4:01 pm). As you passed the HQ there was a team of helpers to punch your card to count the laps. If you wished you could carry on till 4 pm and do an Ultra.

Race HQ and Aid Station

We started in the cold but dry and the Sun was shining but after a few laps the rain came then the Snow and then the Sun. But after 32 laps we had both had enough so collected our bling after completing the Marathon and decided to go shopping in Telford. We came 4th and 5th but waiting for the full results to be published.

Nice Bling

Still Smiling after 26.2 miles
