Yeovil Town RRC Deploy

The 401 Challenge

I ma not sure if anyone saw the local news about Ben Smith. He is running 401 marathons in 401 days. He is running our Yeovil Marathon on Friday 2nd Oct, sadly that clashes with the trip to France but if anyone would like to show him some support that would be great. Details can be found on his website http://www.the401challenge.co.uk/ and the Yeovil Marathon link is here http://www.the401challenge.co.uk/marathons/marathon-32-yeovil.

From Adam

Corinne and I ran the Cropredy Festival Hash organised by the owner of Wadworths Brewery. (Ipx) Free beer, cider etc. great fun!!

From Katie Brooks

Information for the Canoe taster session. Sunday 23rd August,
The session runs between 1-3ish, if we all meet in the far corner of Sutton Bingham picnic area car park at 12.45, there is a 5ish minute walk along the shoreline to the canoe club (no parking at the club itself & dont turn into the sailing club either). The instructor has said that clothes that we normaly run in would be fine to wear on the water. There is a toilet at the club but no proper changing facilities but there is public loo's back in the car park. Those who are staying for the picnic I was thinking if we bring our own food but bring cakes to share around. Anyone not canoeing are welcome to watch or join us afterwards. Looking foward to it, see you all then smile emoticon

Cheddar 5 and 10k

Katie and Richard Dodge when t the Cheddar Gorge with Katie running the 5k and Richard running the 10k. Richard managed to win his age group and Katie came close.  Sadily the Race starts up a little hill that you have to walk up or run up as a warm up.

It was hard, half the battle was getting up Mount Everest to the start wink emoticon but it was worth it for the views and bling, defo one for people to try x

Black Ops

Some of the Club deployed this weekend (Saturday Evening) to deepest part of Dorset for some Special Ops Training.  First they had to add makeup to make them look good.

Matt is available for Makeovers

After they all had their faces painted it was a wait till it got dark to start the Race.

Not sure of the results but well done to Darren Atyeo who came in first.

Notices

Names to Phil for the Club Award Night, Phil will let you know the cost after the next Committee Meeting in Sept.

This came in from Martin Chaffey, The first of three trial Trust 10 runs takes place at Montacute - 9am next Sunday (23rd August) – this is a free 10km run, there’s no pre-registration other than the request that you turn up at 8.30am to give your name and e-mail address. Do have a look at the Yeovil Montacute Facebook page which has a link to it…

Don't forget that the Ash Excellent Eight / Five is open if you want to enter.

The Club Secretary went all the way to Frimley Lodge for the 5k Parkrun, well done Jo.

Lone Green & White on tour!!

As you may have heard the sad news that the SLaMM Marathon had been canceled due to lack of entries as a replacement look at Hangers Heros I did this last year and it has some stunning views and nice and local. The entry is for a good cause as well. It has a Half as well and a long cut off.

It would help me complete the Blog if those that completed races or events send me an email with a story of the event so I can add it. If I am not there I can only do what I normally do and make it up.

If you would like to run a Pub Run on a Thursday Evening for a particular Pub then please let Phil know. We need to fill up September.

Being a Sunday I went off with Paul Allen for a Marathon in Wheathampstead (near Luton), it is a Marathon where the money goes to a Charity and not a Company out to make money for themselves  It is a four lap race round a lovely route with a bit of everything  thrown in and also some large bit of Bling.
