Last Blog before Christmas

Just to wish all that read this a great Christmas and New Year from all the Committee and come back ready to hit them hills with your new trainers.

Portsmouth Coastal Marathon

Today saw Anita, Lynne, Paul A and I go down to Sunny Portsmouth for one of the last Marathons of the Year. While the weather was windy it was not that cold and no rain (yet).

It saw 282 run the Ultra. over 1300 on the Marathon and also a Half with 207 all on the same tracks and it just got muddier and muddier as it was an out and back. Then the slight rain and then the downpour, this made it very hard under foot and this takes a lot out of your legs. You also drop down onto the beach just to make sure your feet got wet.

At the turn about point you head back down the same muddy track and see all the others making their way to the halfway point. I saw the two ladies Lynne and Anita and stopped and gave some lovely words and then ran off into the rain and mud. Paul managed 3:29, I managed a 3:44 and Lynne and Anita managed 5:07 a great time with the conditions.

The Full results can be seen here.

From St Margaret's

The Knight Runners

Thanks to everyone who went to Devon last night for a fantastic evening. For the second year Yeovil's night runners went to the Dark Night Dash based at Dartington Hall down in South Devon and organised by Wild Running. We have our peculiar traditions, at least one of our runners has to get lost, we tend to do mulled wine rather than cake and after the presentations we go for more wine and beer and cider and food if we don't miss the kitchen cut off on the way back.
The final (possibly) results are up.

As it stands our first three runners did pretty well. The Mud Crew were there and if you've not met them lovely people but amazingly quick plus the home team Wild Running. Somehow our 1st three beat the Mudcrew's first 3 to 1st place by the slimmest margin of 2.4 seconds to win the the overall team competition smile emoticon

Message from the Chairman.

ARC have brought to our attention that following a recent road race in the county leaflets were left on car windscreens, which caused damage to the cars and litter. This resulted in complaints to North Somerset Council with the threat of litigation.
As a result of our enquiries no member of YTRRC is involved.
However, with immediate effect no race flyers or leaflets are to be placed on any car windscreens at any event. This matter will be discussed in detail at the next Committee Meeting.
