Phoenix End of Year Marathon
Today saw the Thames Marathon run by Phoenix one of the last few Marathons in 2015. Paul A, Peter Jakeman and myself set off on Sunday for an overnight stay in London before the race today. It only took us 2 hours to pass Stonehenge thanks to the whole world deciding to drive up the A303 on Sunday. 4.5 hours to get to London.....great.
As for the race we were lucky with the weather as the last time us three did this last year it poured down. The course is 4 out and backs along the Thames Cycle Path with some tarmac but mostly mud although this was not to bad and it was warm for this time of year and not to cold like it was when Lynne did this race last year. It a very flat course but it still really takes it out on your legs. Full results can be seen here.
Next Marathon the three of us are doing is slightly warmer in Bahamas :)

Plain Crazy 12
From Matt Driver:
Well done to all at the Stoke Stampede...I left it too late to enter and didn't want Jon Crane beating me at Glastonbury, so I went for the Plain Crazy 12 miles. Starts in the army barracks in Warminster and takes you over the artillery ranges on Salisbury...blisters and sore, but its for a good cause.
😊
Stoke Stampede
Sunday saw the Stoke Stampede and loads of Green and Whites went down to race for Championship Points. Well done to Robbie Hawkins the first over the line for the Club and Jo Henley as first female. The full results can be seen here.
Marathon Mike
Just squeezed in the last marathon of the year
along with a musical/educational weekend. Ran the 3 bridges Trail Marathon in
Little Rock, Arkansas on the 19th December. A smallish event with about 400
runners along the Arkansas River Trail consisting of 2 out-and-backs from the
start finish area, the first 9.5 miles south whilst the second was 3.5 miles
north. Bad news was we passed within 2 metres of the finish line at 19 miles,
the fast guys were already coming in! Trail was wide asphalt so it was easy
running, mostly flat, the only hills were to get onto the bridges, the longest
was a mile (it’s a wide river). Should be called 6 bridges as we crossed each
one twice. Course wound its way through parkland and forests although the
leaves had all dropped so it was a bit stark. Weather was colder than normal
for time of year, zero at the start but sunny. It was a nice run, finished in
the top half and 3rd in age group so walked off with some hardware.
Spent previous day in Memphis, much history
around Civil Rights Movement as MLK was assassinated there, and great music in
the Blues bars in Beale St.
