Pete's Lake
This weekend saw my first Double of the Year at Pete's favorite place in Milton Keynes, Caldecotte Lake. 7 lovely laps on Saturday (mainly dry) and then again today but with a slight bit of rain and a few puddles with Paul Allen. Sadly Pete could not make it as he had to wash his BMW.
Reading the posts on Facebook it seems a lot of the Sunday runs from Montacute had the odd river crossing. Hopefully I will not have this issue for my next Marathon in the Bahamas, but I don't really talk about it much and won't mention it again......today.
Axmouth Challenge 10ml
In the pouring rain, three hardcore YTRRC runners (Sean, Helen and myself) turned up for the Axmouth Challenge 10ml. After a briefing, still in pouring rain, we all set off up the hill. The rain then decided to stop to make the weather conditions much more pleasant (club runners you should have come on down, the rain stopped earlier!). However, after a steep road climb we then went off road through mud, mud and more mud, two steps up and one slide back, then up through a very steep muddy field with a camber. More road, yes, of course, up and down hill, then a track but this is where we got to clean the mud off our trainers by running through hundreds of deep puddles, then more up and down on road. The bonus was the last mile or so was all downhill to the finish, followed by soup and bacon buttie. No momento but proceeds went to charity. The full results can be seen here.
Chard Flyer
The Chard Flyer is always popular with the Club as it is the first Race of the Year and also Points for this years Championship. We had 22 Runners and Bryn Phillips was the first over the line for the Club and Anna Lloyd was the first female, well done both of you and all those that turned out for the Club. The Full results can be seen here.
Lynne
This was posted on Facebook and I think worth a mention, it was posted by Sally Walford:
A year ago today we started to run again after a couple of years out. With the encouragement of a lovely lady Lynne Thumpston who stuck by us throughout the year to achieve with what was planned to do a marathon, two marathons and two ultras marathon later for me and four marathons and two ultras for Paul Walford and all the races in between to achieve receiving a lovey hat at the awards evening. I want to say a big thank you to lynne we would never be where we are now without you xx
It is just not Sally's view Lynne just gets on with it, the "quiet achiever" as Pete put it. As well as knocking out the odd Double Marathons and some times normal ones just on a Sunday Lynne manages to get others out there and show them that anyone can do it with the right training and encouragement. Well done Lynne

Just an observation - if Chard Flyer had awarded a team prize YTRRC men wouldn't have won it as our first three male finishers all were in different clubs so to speak, ie one was Yeovil Town Road Running Club, one was Yeovil Town Road Runners and one Yeovil Town RRC. So please make sure you put Yeovil Town RRC as your club. I have to say though I think it's possibly the fault of the entry system as if you're already on the database when entering it defaults to previous races. I know Phil mentions this at club nights but it's worth reminding again.
The pub run this week (as below) has the following on the menu. From Adam:
