Let the Training Start

Santa Dash

There was a Cheque Presentation on Thursday for the Santa Dash 2015 for St Margaret's Hospice. We have raised so far £5000. The photo shoot was held at the  at Milsted Langdon who were the sponsors.

Nigel Mosley (Milsted Langdon) presented the cheque to Sonia Bateman (St Margaret's Hospice) and was witnessed by the Yeovil Town Cryer and Yeovil Town RRC members.

Many thanks for all your help in 2015, we had over 200 runners at this event and we are hoping to break the record for December 2016.

I will be stepping down as Race Director after this years event, so if anyone is interested in taking over for 2017 and would like to shadow me, this would be a great opportunity to be shown the ropes!

Master Class: Half Marathon Training

Adrian Marriott is running the above event on the 7th Feb:

The Kenyan's are brilliant at judging the correct effort for their training sessions. Not a GPS in sight, just feeling the effort. And balance hard efforts with appropriate recovery training.

In this morning Masterclass you will:
*Learn about the importance of running at 5 different intensities during your training programme.
*Understand which paces are most appropriate for your current level of fitness.
*Practice running at your 5 specific paces and learn to feel the effort of each pace.

In short - you will learn to run like a Kenyan.

Notices

Well done to all that have started the Half and Full Marathon training since the New Year. For those that have signed up  fr a race and not started yet or are running on your own come and join a group on a Sunday morning. There are a few groups to join and some great advice to be gained running with those that have done a few. 10 weeks till Yeovil Half, 15 weeks till London and 16 till NDVM.

Next Sunday's Blog may be missed till the following week. I will try to get one out from the Bahamas but not sure if it will work on my iPad and also the connection but I will give it a go. The main event next Sunday apart from the Bahamas Marathon is the Bovington race that may get muddy. If someone could put something together and a few photographs I will add them to the Blog.

Well done to Katie and all those that went to the Quiz night. Katie received a letter from the Air Ambulance thanking the Club for the money raised.
