Another Busy Weekend

Message from the Chairman

The Chairman and Committee wish all YTRRC runners taking part in the London Marathon the best of luck. We will be looking out for the green and white vests and hope you all have a great run. "And may all your PBs be broken!"

Awards Night

We have decided to give you the Club another option for the Awards Night at the end of November. We have used the football club for a few years now so thought it would be a good idea to see what you wanted.

Anita has looked at other possibilities and has the following report:

Dear Yeovil Town RRC member,

It has been put forward to the committee that we ask all the members of the club whether a change of venue for the Annual Club Awards Night held in November would be a possibility.

Therefore, it has been thought best to offer 2 options to the members to vote on.

Venue A:

To remain at Yeovil Football Club as in the previous few years.

The 3 course meal (buffet style carvery) cost £17.50p
In the past the running club has subsidised the cost by £2.50p per person.

There do not appear to be any reviews for food/corporate dining on TripAdvisor for this venue.

Venue B:

The Haselbury Mill, Haselbury Plucknett.

The 3 course Christmas menu cost £26.95p
To be subsidised by the running club as has been in previous years by £2.50p
We would have sole use of the Tithe Barn for the evening.

TripAdvisor reviews available.

There is ample parking at both venues.
Distance from Yeovil Football Club to Haselbury Mill is 6.8 miles (approx 15 mins)

If you could please indicate your preference:
By email to:

or,

Attend the YTRRC AGM on Tuesday May 10th and place your vote.

Many thanks for your input in this matter.
YTRRC Committee

Although this says to email Anita with your choice we will discuss the way the vote will work at the May Committee meeting and from there it will be published how we will vote. Either way it will be decided at the AGM where it will be to allow the winning venue to be booked in time as these places do get booked up early.

Please take time to look at the options and ask any questions you may have, at the end of the day it is your Club and your vote counts.

Sunday Runs

Phil found a friend

Marnhull 10k

Corinne and I completed the Marnhull 12k this morning. Congratulations to Sarah Trim [the only other YTRRC runner I think]. Sarah was first female in 51.42.
Lovely weather, very scenic course with a few hills, very well organised - no medal but lovely free biscuits and tea at the finish!

Honington Hippo

Just one Green and White at this race.

Richard posted:

""ONLY THE LONELY"" The hills&rivers are alive in the valley"s of Hon- ing- ton where once the Hippo"s graced this beautiful countryside and if you run the HON-ING-TON HIPPO you will see why The hills are still high but rivers were low and then the sheep dip up to the waist all good fun . GREAT RUN HONITON RC .

Bridgwater Bolt

We had a few Green and Whites at the Bridgwater Bolt today, a cheeky little  10k.  The full results can be seen here.
Stacey and Sarah

Brighton Marathon

Kate Hayden ran the Brighton Marathon today and managed a time of 4:16 so great running. Kate was 1027 out of 4150 other women runners. Full results can be seen here.

Bristol Half

From Anita

BRISTOL HALF MARATHON
Sunday 25th September 2016
This is now being 'run' by the 'GreatRun' company. As a club we can get a discount on places again.
As a first claim club member we will only pay £30.40p each (rather than the £38+) But we need 20 places entered to qualify for this. Over the last few years the club has had 40-50 members running in this event. It's a great race for PBs, first time half marathoners and a great club trip.
Please let me know if you are interested in coming along and I will organise the payments and 'vouchers' to enter Interest so far from.

Anita is now starting to collect the Money, she is there most Tuesdays on Club night, please put the money in an envelope with your name, email and Bristol Half on it. Thanks

Secondly look down our recent tweets and find the one we posted to @astro_timpeake about starting the Yeovil Marathon from space, then you need to like and retweet the message. Hopefully the more it gets retweeted he may acknowledge the request. Cheers Bryn

YTRRC Summer 5k Series

Our first Summer 5k series started on Wednesday with 170 runners and also the Fun Run. It was a great success and well done to Dave Stanfield the Race Director and all those that helped out. It was a great team effort and hopefully has set the scene for the rest of the Series. Thanks to you all.

EA Ruling

From 1 April 2016 a new rule regarding the wearing of head phones in road races was introduced into the 2016-2018 edition of the UKA Rules of Competition:-

"The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted in races on any single carriageway road that is not wholly closed to traffic.
This restriction does not apply to races held on dual carriageways provided that there are clear, structured separations between the separate carriageways. Competition Providers of races held entirely on roads closed to traffic may apply this condition where appropriate to local circumstances."
Race Directors may apply the condition to any race where they consider the wearing of headphones to be a hazard - including, for example, where runners must be able to hear marshals' instructions or on a lap course, and UKA will support the race director where that local condition is applied.
Enforcement of this rule is a matter for the race director and referee and disqualification of runners who choose to ignore it is an option.
Race Directors should state at the point of entry and in all pre-race publicity whether or not headphones are banned because failure to do so could result in many runners appearing on the day expecting to run with them.

The rule book is available for reference at http://www.britishathletics.org.uk/competitions/rules/ or to buy from Harry Hitchcock Ltd, Lyon House, 16 Lyon Road, Walton on Thames, Surrey, KT12 3PU; 01932 225591 hhltd@btconnect.com
