RUN FROM GOLDENSTONES
7 of us were up for the 10 miler this morning. We started by running streets and paths through Yeovil to the top of the A37, then descended to the bus shelter where we took the path to Yeovil Marsh. We continued along country lanes almost to Ashington where we turned right and went to Mudford. The climb up Primrose lane is always a hill trial where you can get a good sweat on. We then slogged to the top of Mudford Road and rolled down past the hospital and along Princes street.

There were some ripe blackberries along the way, much better than I-phones.

Richmond Marathon

From Pete
Arrived London early afternoon on Saturday and dropped our bags off at the Victory Services Club.  Then off out for a bite to eat, once fed and watered we retired to our rooms for a rest before the inevitable ping on the IPhone to say "in the bar".  It seems there was a Army Air Corp - Aircrew reunion taking place, very smart they looked with all their medals.
We retired to the restaurant and had a very pleasant meal washed down with a bottle of red.  We looked at ways to get to the start at Kew Gardens:  walk/bus/walk/bus/walk or taxi at £30.00, neither very appealing.  So we looked at mini cabs, that was only £21.00 but if we downloaded their app we could use a promo code which took £10.00 off the cost.
Then off for an early ish! night as it was an 0800 start in the morning.
Right on time the mini cab turned up, driven by Mo's cousin?  If he ran as fast as he talked I would believe him.  We got there on time without any hold ups.
A quiet amble around the park to the start, customary nervous last pee and we were off, mainly towpath, track and pavement with a number of pointless loops thrown in for good measure.
We did pick up one stray who tagged along with us (he liked our pacing)?
Managed to get him in for a PB.  Pacing was fine until the half marathon and 10km runners joined the course which then mean't a lot of weaving around the walkers and slower runners.  We did at one point pass a firing range, I did remind the walkers of the fate that awaited them if they didn't get their backsides in gear (done in a fun way, it drew a laugh).
At the finish we managed to retrieve our bags and I relaxed with a can of London Pride.
Then quickly back to the VSC for a shower and change before heading to Waterloo for a tea and light snack to sustain us until we got back to Yeovil.
No goody bag on this one but we did receive a technical t shirt and a medal.
It's a flat course and the weather was perfect so would be suitable for club members wanting a low key marathon in London especially if you like the river Thames.

Luke managed a PB and Catherine did well as well, both happy with there results.
