The Thames Meander has been race that a few of the Club have done for three years now. With a Half and Full along the Thames it is a flat course with a chance for the odd PB.
A few ran the Park run before the Half.
Peter Jakeman did well in the Half wining his age group but sadly no prize. Jon Crane managed a PB in the marathon and was the first Green and White over the line with Lynne our first lady.
Weston-Super-Mare Half
From Kevin Stenner:
Small group of club runners at the very cold windy Weston- Super- Mare Half Marathon today. Flat (ish) all road / tarmac undulating course. Ran right down the plug hole today 1 36 54. No results yet but they will be published here.
From Kevin Doherty
Looks like 4 of us from Yeovil Club ( And Jackie’s Husband ) travelled up
for Weston Super Mare half today. Cold early on but pretty good weather really. ( 10 minute delay at start
).
course was a 2 lap out and back so we got to see leaders on 2/3
occasions –It had a gradual/undulating climb at one end which caught a few of us out ( I thought WSM was flat !! ).
Kevin Stenner and Jackie Casey put in solid performances Kevin Doherty had
PB and a call of nature en route, and Lucy Suttle was well under 2 hours – so pretty good all round – Support
was good along seafront which was needed as there was a pretty strong head wind Twice.
Gilly Hilly
We had some runners at the last Championship Race and they managed to will the Team Prize so well done all. Well done to Richard Bateson on taking first place.

It all started with the usual on the day "I haven't got a head torch plea, this time from Stephanie Lara. But we set off for Dartmoor, firstly with Matt stuck in Yeovil and then Richard Howes stuck on the motorway, Nervous runners always arrive early, and we had time to acclimatise in the Badger Holt Cafe.
Off went the hooter and the merry band ran thirty yards before grinding to a halt for a bottleneck up a very steep hill. Once the running started again, Matt was quick to fall into the bracken and wait for a lady to haul him out, while Nathan Gardiner shot on ahead. Also, Richard H managed to fall over nothing in an open field. Miles of darkness followed on the most quiet and beautiful night you could ever wish for. Billions of stars and a cherry sliver of moon!
The three tors were completed, a last stepping stone river crossing and a final charge back off the moor. Rob Jones and John-Paul Humphreysmanaged to finish with the small shower of icy rain just beginning, which was probably the only negative of the night.
In other news, Steph fought her way through a real pile to be "first in the bolognese" championship, while J-P won the "nicest smelling pint of cider" category.
And we finish with, Richard Dodge who had a nap on the way home dreaming of the Parkrun he was also running just a few hours later.
